Depends on the activity and who you are with. Lots of things easier yes but some things less so. And honestly if raids could be soloable I might actually do one, hah. And I'd also be impressed if anyone could solo a raid truthfully.

Fireteams are easy mode? I'd say fireteams add difficulty. Being able to make sure that everyone executes correctly when needed is much more difficult than perfecting your own behavior.
