I know that, and Hydra splash range is ridiculous all by itself; but there’s also the times where there’s no wall off of which the damage could be splashing. You know the spot where you begin The Glassway strike and The Warrior empire hunt? In the latter, there’s that mob of Fallen, Vex, and (on Heroic and above) one or more champions. That place sucks for Barricades. It’s almost entirely a slope, and the ground is lumpy and uneven. It’s extremely difficult to find a spot where Barricade is at all useful for that engagement. “Just pay attention” seems like a cop-out, and I don’t appreciate it. This is such a frequent problem for Barricade, and I can’t believe that it’s working as intended. It’s really unintuitive compared to the other two class abilities, needing to pick flat ground for this shield to protect our ankles. That’s not something you always have time to look for in a firefight, and it’s not something that’s always available.
