Weapon Telemetry Either Needs A Better (Actual) Use, Or It Needs To Go.

I'm just going to skip an introduction this time and get right to the point. Weapon Telemetry is simply useless; there's nothing it provides to the game that a better source doesn't already exist for. Right now its sole use is for Gunsmith reputation, but Gunsmith Parts are simply a superior gunsmith currency because they are guaranteed drops from dismantling Rare+ quality gear, and gear drops are extremely common in of themselves due to various methods. Even Mod Components, which in of themselves become useless once you have every available mod from Banshee, at least have a relatively long term use depending on how many mods you have left to obtain while telemetry doesn't have even that. Telemetry doesn't even drop naturally either; you have to waste a ghost mod perk or consume the (equally useless) Pure Matterglass Lens consumable for a chance at even getting telemetry to drop. The fact that this seemingly uncommon/rare outdated currency survived the small inventory purge we had from the transition from S11 to S12 is genuinely baffling. So, as the title implies, it's time for Bungie to either do away with it for good, or give it an actual unique use. If possible, I would rather give telemetry an actual use than outright removing it, so I'd like to give a few suggestions for possible future use. These are just some ideas that immediately come to mind: 1. Bringing back Arms Day from D1.
From what I remember, in D1 it worked where you could order a certain weapon a week to be given to you for the next weekly reset; there were also test weapons you could use to, if I remember correctly, unlock the Arm's Day orders of the week or it was used for reputation (it's been a while since I've played D1). For the D2 version, you could "order a weapon" using weapon telemetry available, while also having a guaranteed source of earning telemetry by gathering test data using the test weapons out in PvE or PvP. Whether this only grants 1 weapon a week or multiple can be debated. I know Forges were effectively the D2 equivalent of Arm's Day, but I figured it doesn't hurt to suggest this now that they're gone.
2. Masterwork trait rerolls.
Among using other materials, use weapon telemetry to allow you to reroll the masterwork trait a weapon has similar to how you can change elemental affinities on armor. Curated rolled could be locked out if Bungie deems necessary, but this would nonetheless help with players getting their desired god roll instead of having to always fight multiple layers of RNG.
3. Weapon perk rerolls.
This functions similar to MW trait rerolls. For some kind of (likely pricey) cost, you would be allowed to reroll a weapon perk (whether this extends only to the final two slots or the barrel/sights/magazine/etc slots can be debated). To prevent easy god roll grabs, rerolls can be extremely limited. This could be done with increasing costs, either by consecutive number of total rerolls, or by a possible perk tier (ex: say Pulse Monitor is a Tier 1 perk with "X" costs while Subsistence is a Tier 2 with "X+Y" costs). A hard cap of "X" uses is always a possibility too. Regardless of how such as system would work, this would hopefully stimulate a healthy grind rather than an obsessive one.
To reiterate, these are just some ideas to make Weapon Telemetry worth using. If these options are not optimal for Bungie for one or more reasons, then telemetry is simply better off being removed from our inventories too since they just take up space for no good reason.
