Remember when the news was actually news and not just opinion pieces?
Twitter isn’t -blam!-ing news. Instagram/ Facebook aren’t news. Snapchat sure as -blam!- isn’t news.
Worlds going to shit because a few thousand people on a social media app are absent mindlessly clicking the like, share, and subscribe buttons because that’s what they’re told to do every ten minutes.
HECK!!!
Society rant over. Have a great day everybody.

IKR? Twitter is the worst...they want strong women in Hollywood who doesn’t conform to body standards and speaks her mind. But then when Gina Carano does that to a T they lose their minds.
Sorry, all out of salt.
Edited by Shamrock-74: 11/23/2020 7:59:30 PMI know so many students at my high school that get their news from Instagram and Snapchat. Then there’s Twitter which is just a cesspool. Facebook and Reddit are a mixed bag. Anyways, I’m just sick of the people who get their news from sources like Snapchat and Instagram and call it ‘reliable’. Unless it’s something you can take at face value or see, spreading lies or taking stuff out of context is common for virtually every source of mainstream media.

Well the thing is nowadays news needs to make a profit, and these days ‘profit’ for public-facing companies and organisations = social media presence (specifically getting ‘viral’ posts/videos etc.). But the only way it can gain a social media presence is by keeping people reading/watching/liking/commenting. Since opinions (especially controversial ones) get the most reactions, they naturally follow that kind of content to the nth degree. Hence the success of obviously dubious yet successful ‘alternative news’ sources like Infowars, and late night topical comedy shows like Jimmy Kimmel or Have I Got News For You. They’re a way of getting the news but in an emotionally charged way, be that positive or negative, which makes you want to engage with the content again either because you agree or because you want to laugh/shout in disagreement.

Politic dumb. Thank you, have a nice day.
I agree entirely, also the division it and other media has caused is kind of destroying America, with everyone disagreeing to disagree.

Remember when the news was actually news and not just opinion pieces?
I wasn't alive then, nor were my parents, grandparents, or even great grandparents etc. Yellow Journalism has existed for generations.

Wht even is news anymore? The old papers haven’t reported anything honestly (except maybe NYP) in almost a decade.

Do actual research for the full story, every media is biased
-
Tbh I wish there was non-opinion news. The conservative news only tells the good about the conservatives, and the left only tells bad about the other side.

News if never news

Edited by raider215: 11/24/2020 1:06:23 AMThere is a company called the Daily Wire who's trying to replace the media with their company. They are biased, but they will promote freedom of speech on their platform.

Edited by Mr man 306 n6: 11/23/2020 10:41:00 PMMore of a rant than shower thought but I agree regardless. And it always has been, it's just different now Also sowm subs on reddit actually have good news, idk if reddits considered social media though

You used to hear the news and decide what you think of it. Now they tell you what to think and you have to decide if it's even real.
-
Not really. Wasn’t that time the 80’s and earlier? Things will continue to get worse as internet algorithms increasingly cater “news” to our preconceived notions.

Nah, it probably always have been, but the internet has exposed them.
