It's the main system my group has used for years. We branch out and play other games from time to time, Stars Without Number, the Star Wars RPG, Vampire the Masquerade, Pathfinder, but always come back to 5th.
I've not played 4th edition but I've heard...many bad things about it... it seems to be the least liked.
Here's a website I use for stuffs on 5e. It has a lot of the basics for free

How is Pathfinder? The other group DM owns that and starfinder but we haven't got to play them yet.

The fact that you keep going back to 5th says quite a bit! I still wonder why people don’t like 4e... the only thing the owner of that shop said about it was that it strayed from the original rules or something. Oh! I remember seeing that website around! I’ll have to study it a little deeper. Thanks!

That seems to be the jist of it. An old timer said it just felt like a completely different game. Like the difference between Morrowind and Skyrim. So I guess it's basically a case of "Old Good, New Bad," but they didn't have the brand popularity yet to carry it with just new players. 5e seems to have found that sweet spot between old and new...also Critical Role bumped them, but I started playing before watching them.

Their theme song is one of the best songs on Spotify, rivaled only by the Home Depot Beat and the Soviet Anthem.
Sorry, all out of salt.
Hm... I’m definitely going to look more into 5e. I really appreciate your reply to this! Can’t wait to learn more about it! :D
