[BNG] PC FPS Issues Megathread - UPDATE June 22

Hey, community. We're currently investigating FPS issues on PC.
UPDATES
June 22, 2021 Last night, AMD released Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.6.1 that fixes some Radeon Graphics products that were experiencing lower than expected performance in Destiny 2. AMD users may want to change their Settings > Preferred Software Version to Recommended + Optional for future updates.

June 3, 2021 In our TWaB blog post, we acknowledged that we made some major engine changes with the launch of Beyond Light - while working from home. Due to the pandemic, we haven't had access to our PC compatibility lab to do in-depth testing. We've been making improvements with each release even though they aren't called out in patch notes, and we're working with our partners to help address these issues and are optimistic about the future.

January 29, 2021 We have looked over the data post 3.0.2 launch: -- High-end users saw big improvements: we're about halfway back to pre-Beyond Light perf. -- Mid-range systems didn't see much improvement. -- Low-end and laptops didn't see much improvement. We're continuing to investigate and look for solutions toward better performance.

January 19, 2021 We released Update 3.0.2 that optimized Lighting on PC GPUs to help increase performance. -- Many folks have mentioned turning off the Shader Cache in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Does this help with performance?

December 14, 2020 We believe we found a few issues related to light probes that have led to GPU performance degradation. We're still investigating and hope to have a resolution in January.

Please use this thread to help us track down what is causing the issue by:
1. • I’m only getting around 25fps in multiplayer at all low settings and everything off in game and AMD settings. I have a 6800xt and Ryzen 5 5600X which is joke to to be getting that. I’ve tried everything and nothing helps.

  • Mention in TWAB, to be silenced again for another two months. It was like that last time.

  • I've read further down in this forum to see how many people are having serious issues. For a company that champions social causes to "do the right thing", it is very disappointing that you can't even acknowledge these issues in a TWAB or some sort of separate article to the D2 community. This is poor character.

  • I have a 6800XT and 5900X CPU. I have no issues with FPS other than the Tangle Shore. However, I am still getting random crashes. I've reinstalled D2, reinstalled Windows, verified game files, and anything else I could think of or read about. Bungie, please fix this.

  • Dear Bungie: For destroying your own game and abandoning us like you have, you deserve nothing but absolute scorn. It was beautiful while it lasted, goodbye.

      • And still broken after today's patch. What a joke. I might as well have lit my money on fire when I bought Beyond light and the passes.

        • If you're having FPS issues on an RX 6000 card, please file a bug with AMD . It seems pretty clear from the lack of response/updates by Bungie that this isn't going to be fixed by them any time soon.

21.3.1 isn't even working for me. GPU utilization is MAX at 40% in game w/ a 6800XT. The only time it goes above is when ship is flying during loading. Which get's it at 70%. Paired w/ a 3900x. The game is unplayable. Please work on this. Please.

          • Updated to new AMD driver 21.3.1 game will not work anymore. game launches can hear music but when i click on the game icon in the taskbar the screen flickers and nothing happens after. Bungie why are you not updating people on this?

          • Just reporting that my 6800xt barely hits 70% utilisation in game, not sure if this is a driver issue of programming issue. Also, the worst dips appear to be in locations like the tower and other load in zones.

The game is absolutely unplayable, constant stuttering, in menus or any area throughout the game. tried running on the lowest settings and everything in these forums, nothing. What a waste of money. Any help???

Wow. Still no word since the 29th of JANUARY. Thanks for the support bungie. It's not like we have hundreds of dollars sunk into your game or anything. Imagine if this was an issue where having an rdna 2 card allowed an exploit where you could get one extra free gunsmith material per week. They'd have it fixed instantly. GGs bungie.

            • Upgraded from a 2080s to a 6800xt over 2 months ago. Nothing else has changed. Every other game I have seen a performance increase. In Destiny 2, however, I somehow went from over 100+fps in hard firefights to 20-40fps just in the tower. Dear lord, does Bungie have a vendetta against AMD GPUs?

            • Pretty pathetic. I have a brand new high end system with a Ryzen 5900, RTX 3080, 32GB ram and NVME PCIE4 drive.. It's not me it's your terrible programming. Every game runs buttery smooth except for this game. I regret giving money to Bungie again and I won't be making that mistake again in the future. Yes I did try all the fake work arounds provided in the thread. It's absurd that you think me lowering game quality is a solution, even if it did work it's not a solution.

New TWAB no update. Starting to be ridiculous, I have a 2080Ti i7 8700K stock and my FPS randomly drops from 140+ to 40fps sometimes for 10+ secondes specially in crucible. I think this is a priority over trials if people can't even play the game and enjoy it in the first place.

              • Frame rate simply tanks on tangled shore. Doesn't matter what settings are used. Smooth everywhere else. AMD 3600X, 5600XT and 16GB 3600 Ram. Still get the mouse freeze bug on occasions as well!
