[BNG] PC FPS Issues Megathread - UPDATE June 22

Hey, community. We're currently investigating FPS issues on PC.
UPDATES
June 22, 2021 Last night, AMD released Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.6.1 that fixes some Radeon Graphics products that were experiencing lower than expected performance in Destiny 2. AMD users may want to change their Settings > Preferred Software Version to Recommended + Optional for future updates.

June 3, 2021 In our TWaB blog post, we acknowledged that we made some major engine changes with the launch of Beyond Light - while working from home. Due to the pandemic, we haven't had access to our PC compatibility lab to do in-depth testing. We've been making improvements with each release even though they aren't called out in patch notes, and we're working with our partners to help address these issues and are optimistic about the future.

January 29, 2021 We have looked over the data post 3.0.2 launch: -- High-end users saw big improvements: we're about halfway back to pre-Beyond Light perf. -- Mid-range systems didn't see much improvement. -- Low-end and laptops didn't see much improvement. We're continuing to investigate and look for solutions toward better performance.

January 19, 2021 We released Update 3.0.2 that optimized Lighting on PC GPUs to help increase performance. -- Many folks have mentioned turning off the Shader Cache in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Does this help with performance?

December 14, 2020 We believe we found a few issues related to light probes that have led to GPU performance degradation. We're still investigating and hope to have a resolution in January.

Please use this thread to help us track down what is causing the issue by:
1. • https://pastebin.com/mq7Nbkf0 The worst offender by far is the Tangled Shore. My frame rate routinely drops into the low 40s with dips into the 30s. The CPU and GPU are barely running at 30% and 60% respectively. GPU isn't even trying to ramp up. See image for details https://imgur.com/a/THFpeRL

  • https://pastebin.com/9GpxNvHY I have massive issues in patrol zones. My PC should be easily be able to hit 200 fps but it just hits 60 fps or lower. The max fps my pc can hit anywhere that is not orbit or a menu is 120 fps in a corner of the map when looking at a wall in crucible in a private match with no one around. Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X ~4,1GHz previously a Ryzen 5 2600X Memory: 16GB RAM DDR4 3000 MHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 previously a GTX 1660Ti After upgrading to my new CPU and Graphics Card I have noticed no improvement. In this game Ryzen CPUs of the first and second generation are very unsupported I feel and it only starts improving with Ryzen 3000 CPUs. I have seen an i5 with a GTX 1070 hit 200 fps but no matter how much I lower my graphics quality (even going to 720p doesn't increase fps). I hope these issues get fixed soon.

  • hello everyone, since beyond light i have massive FPS drops and the general performance has become worse. Editing my CVARS.xml (game config) and setting from "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value=0 to "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value=1 Resolved the poor GPU usage and hence the poor performance/lag/stutter. However it caused the flickering textures people are talking about below. Whatever this setting controls is likely related to whatever is causing this bug. Please fix this bungie!

Rx 5700xt, r5 3600x working well with driver version 20.2.2 I highly recommend trying this driver for people having fps issues in the tangled shore.

      • The problem is with the nvidia low latency mode set by default to on in the cvars file. Changing the value for low latency from 1 to 0 fixes bad performance for radeon users. Tangled shore is still low fps even on radeon 6800 or 5700xt and ryzen 7 3800xt.

      • Just a quick update to note that I tried installing the new AMD drivers that were released today (20.12.2) but there was no change at all. Thanks for the hard work Bungie! :)

Here are my specs: https://pastebin.com/P3UTw6fs When editing this CVARS file line from 0 to 1 "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value=0 My performance drastically increases. My performance was already good usually running the entire game above 100fps excluding the newly problematic tangled shore. However, this causes almost all the lighting in the game to flicker. It's unplayable to run the game this way even though my fps skyrockets and feels silky smooth. If there's a way to enable this setting without the flickering, this game would run like a dream on my system. Edit: Another user in this thread recommended I switch to Radeon 20.2.2 display drivers and it pretty much fixed all my fps issues. Tangled shore is back to 100fps.

Can someone explain to me how i crash to black screen. Running a 3950x 64 gigs of ztrident 3600 ram an rx6900xt on a m.2 ssd. explain to me how this is even possible. had the crash to verify code worked that one out now this. tried entering gambit twice and boom crash. and this is from a fresh reinstall due to the other issue at hand. Well the crash's to verify steam file reappeared. Here some advice bungies do like PoE did create your own launcher steam's 32 bit one is not the best and conflicts with your coding trust me.

Used to run around 200 fps, now i can get a maximum of 80 fps with all the possible fixes i have found, but it still drops. It went well after Beyond Light, even completed the campaign, but one day (like a week or so ago) it just dropped and ever since I can not enjoy the game. Once I try to move, fps drops below 20. When in orbit or loading screens, I get that sweet 180+ fps, but once I am anywhere (even Tower), it drops drastically. https://pastebin.com/LKJwcpEr

Like others, I hit this as well. Ryzen 5600X + RX 6900 XT and I'm getting 41fps in Tangled Shore at Theives Landing. Also, when playing Crucible, I've noticed if someone fires a Jotunn at me, the game basically drops to 0 fps – it stutters for a second or two, sometimes I see 4 in the fps counter, but that seems unlikely. This wasn't a problem before I did my hardware upgrades! Hopefully this gets resolved soon. Thanks Bungie. :)

I upgraded from a gtx 1060 to an rx 5600 xt. I've uninstalled all previous drivers lowered all settings to the lowest its not a cpu bottleneck. I am getting fps in the 40s to 50s in some areas where i used to get 60 to 70. It's something wrong with the game and the 5600 xt I used to get much higher fps on the 1060 and the 5600 xt is a way better card.

                  • Another 5700XT having issues. Why has this issue seemingly gotten worse over time? When I first downloaded Beyond Light the only issue was on Tangled Shore, now it's everywhere. When I load into a Crucible match it takes about 5 minutes of 5-10 FPS before it settles at a stuttering 60FPS on High settings, whereas I was getting 200+ FPS on Highest settings before the update. You claimed your software was compatible with our hardware, but it clearly is not. Y'all need to start offering refunds for PC players because this game is Beyond Broken.

                    • Always I have freezes on my dother's computer when game statrs or new location. There're Intel Core i3-6100 cpu, 8gb memory, nvme ssd specially for this game 128Gb and Radeon RX 5600XT in the computer. Sometimes the game returns me on Desktop during loading and after the "bee" error. I made the video of these freezes, it's available on link below: https://youtu.be/4Pu9rg-pSXs and game play's video https://youtu.be/qx4uMf5OiJM I have no any overlock settings. i tried all: reset shader cache, reinstall drivers with DDU, run game in window mode, change adrenaline's profiles, switch Vsync Usually the game shows me the "bee" error, but UPNP works correctly on my router and other computer in this lan doesn't have any troubles. • The greatest performance problems are noticeable in the tangled shore location. When the fps in the location is inactive, it stays around 50 frames. But the real horror begins when i'm activate the hunt for wrathborns, at this point the performance drops to 40-35 frames, although in the Dreaming city about 50 at the time of the hunt. There are also problems with fps when using stasis ultimates. My PC specs: https://pastebin.com/9RKh65xD Briefly about the specifications: CPU: Intel Core i3 9100f 3.6 GHz GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti RAM: DDR4 16 Gb 2400 GHz HDD WD Blue 1 Tb(installed game on) SSD WD Green 240 Gb(installed OS on) Power Supply 350 Watt Before "Beyond Light" at minimum(except Textures on max, anisatropic filt. 16x) settings, was stable >70 FPS.

i have a 3950x ryzen 9 16 core and 32gb of ddr4 ram and 2070 super with a 144hz monitor 1080p and everything is overclocked even the ram.. but somehow i only get 90 fps in every planet and the tower, i get maybe 120 fps on pvp and strikes are at 90-120 fps, idk what the heck is going on with this game but this is the only game i have outta like 30 games on steam that have this poor of performance i should be WAY above the requirements to get 144 fps stable, its incredibly frustrating..😢 & P.S all my settings are at the lowest except my texture quality and yes i changed that too see if it fixed the problem and it doesn't including switching of v sync and off plus frame cap and windowed or fullscreen, NOTHING helps and don't get me started on my Nvidia control panel I've done everything different there as well

                        • 100% THIS IS FIXED. At least for me and my friend (we both have RTX 2070 and both had the issue), the new driver update that was released about 2 days ago has completely resolved ALL FPS issues and load times are greatly improved!
