That's a problem in every "Team Deathmatch" style game.
Without an objective, players don't have any reason to leave their spawn....and those on defense always have the advantage over attackers.

Yeah, but the difference is that atleast you get to do the same to them next round. Here you can do it, no matter what round. If they are just better at winning those start of round duels, you are always at a disadvantage. But any gamemode, especially a competitive one, is trash if it incentivises camping.

Its why I prefer objective-based game play. You're focusing on a difference in degree rather than kind.

Definitely, survival is a bad competitive mode.
