I picked up a Weekly Bounty from The Crow called "Hive Boss Culling: Solar." It calls for defeating four Hive Bosses with solar damage.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or just bad communication of the definition of "boss", but killing the following yellow bar enemies with solar damage did not progress this bounty:
- The Hive Ogre in the Wolfship Turbine Lost Sector on the Tangled Shore
- The Hive Wizard at the end of the Broodhold Strike on the Tangled Shore
Again, this could be that this particular bounty is bugged, and I haven't tested this on other Hive bosses such as Nightmare Hunts, though I think there is also confusion as to what defines "a boss." I know in past seasons, some Lost Sector Nightmares did not count as bosses for seasonal bounties but other bosses in Lost Sectors did (I specifically remember Mercury and Mars working for bounty progression). I think that all bosses at the end of strikes should count for this bounty. Nightfall Champions are another question, as they will be affected by Vorpal Weapon but not Boss Spec.
I'd like to see greater clarity in the future as to what defines a boss by using language in bounties such as:
"Kill Hive Bosses in Strikes or Lost Sectors with solar damage" or
"Defeat Hive Bosses or Champions in Strikes or Nightmare Hunts with solar damage" or
"Defeat Hive Bosses in Wrathborn Hunts with Solar Damage"

A 'boss' generally means an 'ultra' enemy, you can identify them by having a diamond icon on their health bar. Enemies with a triangle icon are just 'majors'. I think the mods have been disabled now but there used to be 'boss resist' and 'major resist', which would work on one kind but not the other. Another difference was for people working on the steps of a Black Armory weapon frame - major enemies dropped 2 radiant seeds, ultras dropped 10. Lost Sector main enemies tend to be Majors. Mars Lost Sectors counted as 'boss' kills because they were in fact ultras (and therefore were good for radiant seeds), but Subterranean Mind on Mercury was just a Major. For Mercury boss kills you had to either do the strikes or wait for the Gate Lord in the public event. For Crow's weekly bounties, the intent is to kill the Wrathborn bosses. These count as two Ultras per hunt (the one you chase, and the one that spawns after) so can complete one bounty in two hunts.
