Destiny is about grinding. To make one able to always reroll the stats would take that away

No, Destiny is about having fun. A boring, pointless grind isn't fun.

It’s also about crafting builds, which is hard to do if you can’t get the pieces necessary. I don’t want re-rolling, just some form of increasing the chances of getting the stat distribution I want.

Ah yes fair. Think I may have read your original post incorrectly. Was in bed and tired lol. I'm a returning player from before they had seasons, so unsure how it's been done before. But if transmog happens as it appears the plan is, and the season has engrams you can do as we did this time. I think your complaint would be addressed.
