Ps5 recordings

If you haven't heard ps5 will feature a " press to send the last 5min of chat audio to sony " to report someone. This has me concerned and I am sure others are concerned as well. This is against human rights to not give us an opt in/out ability. Now I know the first response to my thread will be " don't use hurtful words and you will be fine ". But if you speak politically people could try to ban you, knowing sony are communist fascists and could take there side. Or this hypothetical scenario, A raid group trolls a kid threatening him and winding him up to be angry. Then wait 5mins to ommite the context and frame the kid for hurtful words. Or people just trolling sony by recording there friends saying mean things to sony, and sending it in to sony. Today it is hong kong they don't want you to talk about, but who will it be tomorrow, your cousin, your brother. Remember in -godwinslaw!- germany first they took the crippled, sick, elderly. Then the mentally challenged, then the gays, lesbians, queers. And on and on, until you are all alone and you didn't fight for anyone's rights because you were not a part of there group. And there is no one left to help you. Sony says they will take action against anyone critical of china in there terms of service. Me I am opting out and using external chat room's because -blam!- the communist -blam!-lord fascists.

  • Yeah, anything revolving around censorship or policing of any kind in 2020 worries me, even if it sounds ok on paper. That’s because the standards of what is considered “harassment” or “offensive” are both ridiculous and inconsistent in this PC world we live in. I’d have no problem with this 10 years ago... Yeah, don’t call people the “N” word. No shit. Now, I’m afraid to talk back to a hostile LFG player because even though they started the hostilities, they could report me and some far-Left ideologue working for Sony has the power to determine who’s wrong or right. And you’re right, political discussions with strangers could also be considered “dangerous.” Is criticizing China really against TOS?

Just use the party with people you know Personally I don’t care anyway I don’t use party chat anymore haven’t for two years now lol I just sit on the headset and listen in on conversations I’m a lurker The conversations are always fun when they forget your there lol As for the China thing it only affects people in Hong Kong and China They can’t touch you outside the jurisdiction So say your in America and say something bad about China China can’t really do anything because America would never hand anyone over to them And America would never punish you for it either Which I’m sure infuriates China lol To be honest I doubt Sony is really going to enforce any of that crap Their just putting on a show for China Then they will just look the other way and pretend they didn’t hear anything

While I do agree with you that Sony aint exactly doing the best thing in regards to the partychat recording, Im gonna point out a major flaw in your post. No where in any ToS or CoC, have I found anything to support the notion that Sony will punish you, in any way, for critisicing China. For reference, here's PSN'S CoC in the spoiler, just so this doesnt become a massive wall of text. Link to the CoC, incase you wanna read the full thing and get a free migraine from doing so: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/legal/psn-terms-of-service/
. CODE OF CONDUCT PSN is for everyone, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, color, immigration status, social and economic class, educational level, size, family status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability or any other attribute that people use to label others or divide communities. In order to keep PSN the best place to play for everyone, it is important for all our users to respect the rights of others and refrain from misuse of PSN. Accordingly, when you create an Account you agree that you (and your Child, if creating a Child Account) will follow the rules set forth below.  5.1. Do not organize hate groups or use or promote hate speech. 5.2.  Do not threaten, harm, bully, harass, troll, or stalk anyone, or encourage anyone to do so. 5.3.  Do not create, upload, stream, or share any images, audio or other content or communication that is racist or offensive to any ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, or religion, or that disparages anyone based on their mental or physical ability, appearance, or other personal trait. 5.4. Do not create, upload, stream, or share messages, images, audio, or other content or communication that is lewd or contains graphic sexual content or abhorrent violent material. 5.5. Do not engage in, threaten, or promote illegal activity, terrorism, or acts of violence or self-harm. 5.6. Do not defame or spread lies about anyone, or create, alter, upload, stream, or share images or audio of another person without their consent. 5.7. Do not reveal personal information (such as phone numbers, email addresses, IP or MAC addresses, or real-world addresses) about yourself or another person. 5.8. Do not manipulate or inflate usage of PSN or disrupt the normal flow of chat or gameplay. 5.9. Do not share, buy, sell, rent, sub-license, trade, transfer, phish for or harvest any accounts, account details, or other account credentials. 5.10. Do not cheat, or use any bugs, glitches, vulnerabilities or unintentional mechanics in Content or the PSN to get an advantage or to gain unauthorized access to Content. 5.11. Do not upload, post, stream, or transmit any content that contains any viruses, worms, spyware, time bombs, or other computer programs that may damage, interfere with, or disrupt PSN. 5.12. Do not use, make, or distribute unauthorized software or hardware, including non-licensed peripherals and cheat code software or devices that circumvent any security features or limitations included on any software or devices or take or use any data from PSN to design, develop or update unauthorized software or hardware. 5.13. Do not make available any cheats, technological measures, or other methods designed to enable or encourage any collection, selling, or trading of PSN Content, including any  virtual currency, goods, or effects such as coins, points, tokens, gold, gems, weapons, vehicles, buffs, power-ups, trophies, rewards, or badges (“Virtual Items”). Do not create or participate in any exploitation of price differences of Virtual Items by any means (for example, between real money currency prices). 5.14.Do not attempt to hack or reverse engineer any code or equipment used on or in connection with PSN, or attempt to modify the online client, disc, save file, server, client-server communication, or other parts of any game title, or content. 5.15. Do not cause disruption to or modify or damage any Account, system, hardware, software, or network connected to or provided by PSN for any reason, including for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage in a game. 5.16. Do not send SPAM, or upload or share content that is commercial in nature, such as advertisements, solicitations, promotions, and links to web sites. 5.17. Do not upload or share content that could be harmful to SIE or its affiliates or their licensors, or players, such as any code or virus that may damage, alter or change any property or interfere with the use of property or PSN. 5.18. Do not engage in, promote, or facilitate activity that infringes the rights of any third party, or violates any law or regulation, or contractual or fiduciary obligations. 5.19. Do not steal anyone’s identity, impersonate anyone, or engage in fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading practices. 5.20. Do not create an account profile or online ID for PSN that violates this Code of Conduct. 5.21. Do not submit false grief reports or otherwise abuse the grief reporting system. 5.22. Do not be rude to, or abuse or threaten, our employees, agents or representatives. We may also notify law enforcement (or another appropriate government agency) if the breach involves a threat to the life or safety of yourself or others, or any other activity that we believe to be unlawful.  We are not responsible for monitoring or recording any activity or communications on PSN, although we may do so in order to investigate violations of or enforce this Agreement, or to protect the rights and property of SIE, its partners, and customers. If you witness or experience any violation of this Code by another player, you should report them immediately, using our grief reporting tools. Xbox has had this for a while. Why is it suddenly a problem? Heck, although they don't anymore, they used to listen to EVERYTHING, whether you wanted them to or not.
We stopped reviewing any voice content taken through Xbox for product improvement purposes a number of months ago, as we no longer felt it was necessary, and we have no plans to restart those reviews. We occasionally review a low volume of voice recordings sent from one Xbox user to another when there are reports that a recording violated our terms of service and we need to investigate. This is done to keep the Xbox community safe and is clearly stated in our Xbox terms of service. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-49435837
Noticed they said they stopped reviewing, not recording. And they DO review content that's been reported. The new PlayStation report feature only has a backlog of the last 5 minutes. Should we all stop using text based communication where what you've said sticks around pretty much forever? And here's the thing, you ONLY get reviewed if someone reports you. That's true for both PlayStation and Xbox. Really, this is no more an infringement of our rights than using traffic cam footage to verify reports of someone causing a public disturbance.

            •
This is against human rights to not give us an opt in/out ability.
Nope. When you signed (agreed to) the terms of service, you gave them the right to. It’s a legally binding contract that you signed. Last paragraph of the Code of Conduct reads as follows:
We are not responsible for monitoring or recording any activity or communications on PSN, although we may do so in order to investigate violations of or enforce this Agreement, or to protect the rights and property of SIE, its partners, and customers. If you witness or experience any violation of this Code by another player, you should report them immediately, using our grief reporting tools. We are not liable for any violation of this agreement by you or by any other PSN user.
Here’s the link to the PlayStation Terms of Service. So... yeah, you agreed to them being able to investigate or enforce things suspected for breaking their code of conduct. You gave up that right to privacy. As a fellow forum goer pointed out before me, there isn’t anything in the ToS about China. I’m someone who reads stuff before I agree to them, and I don’t remember bad mouthing China being in their code of conduct. Chill out, pal. It’ll be alright. Remember you make sure to read things before you agree to them.

            • Being able to forcefully record another player's voice is a new thing. Weaponizing a report system against people isn't new. I've literally sat and watched a friend troll players (and even cheat) until he gets hate mail, report said hate mail (just for fun) and get a "thanks action has been taken against the player" a few days later. At one point he got an angry message after he managed to get a guy comms banned for a month... No idea how long the second one was. The ToS update is just for Hong Kong because PoohBear is ending the special treatment Hong Kong had compared to the rest of China's territory.
