If the people don’t like to use the companion and would rather use discord (may included you but I’m unsure of your decision) then go for it. Use the companion as a secondary but don’t dump it (announcements as an example)

Also to answer your title the reason why is either out of boredom and think they got nothing to do (like me) or in the clan recruitment section some if not most require people to use another app since it’s “better” than the ones their using. (At least in my opinion)
