Implications of Asher Mir’s Sacrifice.

Recently, we learned of the fate of Asher Mir after the season of arrivals. That is, he brings the Pyramidion’s lake down on him. This could mean that he is giving himself to the Vex, as we see in the lore no Vex fire upon him, what could this mean. Previously in Destiny 1, we broke into the Vault of Glass and using Kabr’s Aegis we were able to change our fate. Later on when the Taken invaded the system, Praedyth was able to communicate to us, and we were able to use his traces to get No Time to Explian. What could this mean about the Vex intelligence network? Are Gaurdians able to keep a part of their identity from being completely assimilated to the vex? In Destiny 2, we meet a Harpy on Nessus. The Vex intelligence network deems it as the previous captain of the Exodus Black, Caption Jacobson. Looking at the story of Captain Jacobson, we see that in his last transmission to the Exodus, the Vex either shout a war cry or a greeting. Later on we find his body in one of the caverns of the centaur planet. This has to mean that either, The captain greeted the Vex and allowed them to study him, or Jacobson was able to evade long enough to get to a cavern. Either way, Captain Jacobson was somehow preserved in the vex system enough to speak to us. If a Golden age human can keep an Identity in the Vex network, then a guardian such as Asher must be able to have some sort of traceable identity somewhere in the system. This could include a Possible future storyline of finding parts and trying to communicate with Asher Mir again. Let me know if I am missing anything.

  • The story of Asher Mir's death is just a cover story to hide that one day Guardians got tired of his endless snark and decided to kill him and then tossed his body into the Pyramidion to dispose of it.

  • I wonder if Asher's virus he mentioned will now be put into motion. Also, what happened to his ghost? Did she finally croak?

    • I believe the main story thread to D2 was about making alliances to stand against the darkness or more likely its followers. We allied with calus and his cabal, we met and allied with mithrax who created house light. We strengthened awoken-guardian relationships. We allied with Rasputin. If Asher's joined the vex collective and serves as an ambassador we could ally with that sect. Also on a side note, asher joining could have negative effects for guardians. As vex could not predict the light or simulate it, but by asher merging with them, they may be able to simulate it now that they have access to his memories and possibly the light.

      • Would be cool if it made him the new genesis mind.

        • <Asher may end up being our key to allying with the non-Divisive Collective. He and the Vex want nothing to do with the Dark, though Asher has a connection to humanity and our continued existence. If anyone is to convince the Vex that joining us is the better option, and that there's a chance we could find a way to beat the Pyramids and slay the God of Darkness, it would be him.>

        • The vex pretty much let him pass once he gets a certain distance into the pyramidian, I’m fairly certain it even reads the lasers seemed to curve around him. I wouldn’t be surprised if some kind of deal has been brokered between Asher and the Vex, or at least a parlay, probably instigated by his arm. Vex’s goal are to outlive the end of the universe. Currently at least, The Darkness represents that, and the Vex have absolutely no way of stopping it by themselves. But if they had a being with paracasual abilities helping them out... ...And before anyone says, well the Vex worship the darkness, No, The Sol Decisive do, of which the rest of the vex actively avoid.

        • I like this a lot it’s very viable. He is such a tragic character and I like the storytelling aspects like this, a more serious vibe. It’s ruined by the stupid chirpy ghost it kills my immersion.
