On PC you can sometimes get banned for running certain programs that the game considers cheat bots in the background.
Follow up the appeal. Get rid of any programs you don’t use. Get rid of any cheats or mods you may be using on any single player games. Scan your hard drive to make sure you didn’t pick up any viruses or malware along the way.
Avoid freeware and opening any attachments that aren’t from a highly trusted source.

But when I got banned there was nothing running apart from Discord, Spotify, Chrome. There was a C# coding application running but that was just my college work and I'm definitely sure that didn't do anything. Apart from that nothing else. Coming to the next thing I've never installed any hacks or any such software in my laptop for any game so there i nothing that could interfere. There are no viruses or anything as such, I've scanned it right now. Welp I feel really bad coz i was so invested in the game and all of a sudden I have nothing to play. I just hope Bungie looks into my case and they themselves will find out my ban was wrong. Thanks for the response.

Always split college stuff (coding and stuff) and gaming stuff. This will prevent you from getting banned in the future. Take care.
-
I mean I never do coding and stuff just coz of this pandemic I was learning coding and doing something for the college. Maybe that's why I've never faced this issue before.
-
Yeah coding is a grey area in online games. If you’re skilled enough you could inject code into any online game. That’s why you always need to check all your background processes if you want some development tools on your machine. Best way to prevent getting banned is not using it on your gaming device:). There was another thread this week with the same issue. He or she never coded but used C# for a college project and got banned for it.
-
Damn but don't u think Bungie should look into the account a bit more beofre just banning a account permanently. All the efforts a person puts into the game just goes for no reason.
-
You’re totally right but that was probably not a Bungie staff to be honest. This was a automatic ban. Try to appeal it. There should be a form to create a ticket.
-
That’s what I was thinking, that this was an automated ban.
-
Nope. The system detected your programs trying to interact with the game and reported it to Bungie staff who investigated you and found reason to issue a ban.
-
Yes did that, fingers crossed 🐒

Running C# in the background could easily be triggering an anti cheat alarm depending on the scenario. Many cheats are written in C# and I don't have a lot of faith that their anti-cheat software being smart enough to know what is running and what it does at this point, Just complete the appeal process and if you're not cheating, I hope it turns out OK. And if you are cheating, well, then it did turn out OK. :)

Edited by WRLDBOSS: 10/9/2020 2:30:14 PMOh I was not sure about that but it was some very basic coding that I was doing. Not sure how that could trigger it.
-
Well, programmatically speaking, a hack or cheat is much of the time, actually pretty basic coding. It's usually injecting actions into the gameplay or something similar. An anti-cheat probably can't tell exactly what you are running, it just sees an outside program running and potentially interacting with the system while the game is running. I could see that being mistaken for a cheat. Or if you have EVER had a cheat installed. Or, could also be if you played in the same fireteam as a cheater. But, that's what the appeals process is for, I guess.
-
Yes true. Welp I didn't know that we could programe a hack software with basic coding. Well let's hope they unban me quick, I have a lot of grinding left before beyond light.
-
Edited by Lord Kielron: 10/9/2020 2:25:53 PMMight have been the C# application. Seems like a good possibility, especially with this game. All you can do is basically do what Kelly said, and then follow up with an appeal.
-
Yes true. There is not much I can do here, just wait and hope that Bungie looks at my case and resolves it. Thanks a lot everyone 😊

I would not hold my breath on even getting a response from bungie. Whenever they moved to steam and banning players they would rarely and I mean rarely get a very vague reason as to why they were banned. Either make a new account or looks for a different game but don’t hold out hopes for your current account.
-
This is so sad, all the effort a person puts into a game and gets permenantly banned without any proper investigation and there is no one to even help. This is very sad Bungie.
-
They used to do manual investigations on each and every single ban but it moves to steam and changed to free to play. You get banned make a new account and jump right back in and start cheating again.
