How is the titanfall franchise generic?
You have:
-unique, fluid wall run mechanics
-big ass mechs
-AI that run around the field
-a post game mini-game
-a system where you can steal batteries from mechs and give them to your own teammates
There’s not a single shooter (besides maybe blatant rip-offs from like China or something) that even comes close to what we get with Titanfall.

If I remember correctly, titanfall 1 was the game that really popularized and started the advanced movement shooters, and to this day, it is still the best one (titanfall 2 was even better than the first). Its also still the only advanced movement shooter i truly enjoy and actively want to keep playing. Plus, it doesnt get anymore unique than the actual titans. Nothing compares. Id go as far to say titanfall 2 was the best shooter of last decade. I loved it that much. Shame it died out so fast and sold poorly due to EAs garbage marketing and release date failure.

It’s gotten a second wind.

On ps4 I know it did cause it was free. I'm on xbox tho and its been dead there for over a year now. Theres enough people to find games somewhat regularly but it dips in and out depending in the time of day, and most of the population is in the attrition (team death match) gamemode only.

This got toxic lol
This got toxic lol
Sadly yes. Not what I was going for. Welp.

I'd like to state for the record that I was just being silly and snarky, but some people take this stuff super seriously. Like that one kid and Fortnite lol

It really did, I’m having fun nonetheless.

Edited by Uncanny_Vale: 9/29/2020 12:42:01 AMAs far as FPS multilayer shooters go it was marginally more creative than COD or battlefield or something. But really though it was just another FPS shooter. I would hardly call it unique. All the things it did differently from the usual shooters have been done in many other games in other genres before. The thing that Titanfall did a little differently is take elements of the action adventure genre and insert them into the FPS shooter genre. A genre that is not usually know for creativity when it comes to single player campaigns. My guess is the people who think that it’s unique and amazing probably don’t play that many games outside of the FPS shooter genre and so haven’t been exposed to them before?

Edited by Breach: 9/29/2020 1:28:53 AMI play DBD, rocket league, SCP SL, SS13, and GTA, to name a few non-FPS games. Not that that matters. What you’re doing is saying soccer is the same thing as football because they both involve a field and the games both end when the timer does. Just because they all involve FPS it doesn’t mean they all play the same way.
-
I play DBDl
Which side do you main, and which character.
-
Survivor and Cheryl. Why?
-
Killer and Demogorgan baby, but I’ve been playing as IMMERSED Jake for a bit.
-
Edited by Breach: 9/29/2020 4:46:52 AMI hate immersed players NGL. They end up throwing the game for me. I just had a match where one player sat in a locker the entire time.

I try not to hide much, just play a bit stealthier and do gens, DH and Iron Will make chases easier so it’s nice synergy wether you just want to do gens or stall the killer.
I try not to hide much, just play a bit stealthier and do gens, DH and Iron Will make chases easier so it’s nice synergy wether you just want to do gens or stall the killer.
Nothing wrong with playing smart, as long as that’s what it is; smart. I’m talking about the people who sit in the corner and pretend the game is a “last survivor wins” kind of game.

It’s always the self care Claudettes
-
I’ve seen both sides to claudettes and they’re either god tier blendettes or shit tier immersed.
-
I’ve seen both sides to claudettes and they’re either god tier blendettes or shit tier immersed.
TRUE :o
-
I haven’t touched claud since I first started playing the game.
-
I haven’t touched her period, only Jake and Meg, next toxic Bill.

Edited by Uncanny_Vale: 9/29/2020 1:40:32 AMI think you missed the point. The sort of people who play FPS multiplayer games don’t tend to play many games in other genres. The genre of FPS multiplayer games tends to have short, linear campaigns focused solely around the mechanics of shooting. They don’t usually incorporate a lot of things like platforming, puzzle solving, varied mechanics etc. The campaigns are usually an afterthought - the multiplayer is the main focus. So when Titanfall included some of those mechanics not usually seen in FPS multiplayer games a lot of people who don’t usually play anything but CoD or Battlefield would of been exposed to them possibly for the first time. But none of the things Titanfall did were particularly unique. They are the bread and butter of games in the action adventure genre. Wall running for example has been done in games like Prince of Persia and Mirrors Edge. And mech suits have been done in loads of games - especially in Japan.

Such as Halo's Mantis, to No Man's Sky's Minotar, to even Subnautica with the Prawn Suit.

Not to mention the best job of tying a BR into the main story of any game series.
