Here's to hoping for you that are actually going to play it that its just not huge swaths of nothing.
Variks is the first thing I've liked about this DLC. Hopefully they somehow make it worth my while. Then I might return to this mess.

I’m more scared of players throwing a temper tantrum because we work alongside the guy that caused the prison break that killed le epic funny robot man.

I'm sure it won't be that bad. One of the reasons people got mad in the first place is Cayde and Eris are the only 2 actual characters on the good guy side. Luckily we have Drifter and Queen as almost characters in the neutral. Then finally we have Uldren the only actual character of villains in the bad guy side other than Oryx. If Bungie actually does proper story work which is extremely hard for them it seems im sure people won't be too upset at that factor.

The evil Uldren is dead. Current Uldren is now a blank slate. One could easily assume that if all guardians had to atone for what they did before they were resurrected (without being asked i might add), the Vanguard would have never happened and Earth/humanity would already be flushed. Being chosen as a guardian is built in absolution for past life deeds.

Who knows. We only have 2 cases of something happening moments before someone became a guardian that basically decided the future. Uldren and Shin Malphur. We know Shin took revenge. Now if it were up to me it'd be a choice to kill him and his ghost or forgive since this Uldren could turn into a better person overall. But you're probably more correct in that they'll do the more poor and easy choice and just have our guardian forgive him.

Agreed Drifter kept me playing while I still did cause I really enjoy him. Queen however well ill take the black armory one cause robos need robo love.

Oh, they're going to slap him with a retcon if he's a good guy. It'll be hilarious. Either that, or he's a villain. In which case, it's gonna be super awkward because the player already knows he's behind the riot but Guardian doesn't. That's Bungo pacing for ya.

Exactly. Now what they could do is make it interesting as in side with Variks or the Stranger. Then they become the Vendor for that planet.

If Destiny was even remotely good, it would have to be a decision that happens at the end of the main campaign of this expansion, but I ain't holding my breath for what-aboutisms.

I agree with you fully. Their writing team outside of 75% of the lore is pretty garbage. Maybe they should stick to books over games lol.
