“We’ve heard your feedback about sniper flinch not functioning correctly on a game-wide scale...”
“And that’s why we’ll be moving away from low-zoom scopes in the future.”
“We’re listening.”

Oh yay! It’s shotgun ape Meta AGAIN! Snipers are the only thing keeping the shotguns at reasonable levels. Back to shotgun apes and shoulder charging Titans everywhere. Sure sounds fun. . . .

Edited by RussellMania: 9/22/2020 10:38:06 PMSidearms are keeping shotguns at bay more than anything else in the game, and AR’s to a lesser extent.

Bungie’s the biggest problem with destiny, and always have been

Unfortunately, that would "fix" the issue. It would also kill sniper usage. So there's that. Wouldn't put it past ol' Bungie though...
Unfortunately, that would "fix" the issue. It would also kill sniper usage. So there's that. Wouldn't put it past ol' Bungie though...
I wasn’t joking lol, that’s what they’re doing. They announced it a while back.
-
Oh my god. I don’t remember them saying that about snipers, but wow that’s disappointing. We have some of the worst destiny players in the game complaining about sniper flinch and what does bungie do? Basically removes competitive sniping from the game. I can’t wait until next season people get to see how much better the game gets when I run at them and map them with shotguns.
-
I mean, sniper flinch is absolutely a problem because it’s literally broken in the way it functions. It isn’t just bad players complaining about it. But giving snipers more zoom isn’t the answer, and could kill sniping depending on how much they increase it.
-
I personally don’t see a problem with sniper flinch it makes sense that shooting someone once with a hand cannon isn’t going to leave them flinched for forever. For a good sniper they just need to readjust u want sniper flinch use an auto rifle. Arbalest is broken
-
Flinch for all weapons pulls the reticle towards the head, unless it’s already on the head. It’s been known for some time now. That’s fundamentally broken because it does the opposite of what flinch is supposed to achieve. Go watch CoolGuy’s video on flinch if you don’t believe me.
-
Ok yeah that definitely seems “broken” but remember it’s a video game. Physics don’t always work the same, they work in the best way possible to help everybody. Bungie has to build flinch assuming most people are hitting body shots, because the majority plays on console and the console majority has bad aim. Just for instance assume everybody was using hand cannons. If u only hit body’s the ttk is terrible, but can also achieve the fastest ttk in the game with 3 headshots. So bungie trying to help everybody will naturally build a flinch system that will direct a bad players reticle upwards towards the head and will attempt to stop good players from only hitting headshots. For snipers this is obviously controversial, but more flinch would make them unusable for the larger player base. What we have right now is truly what is best for every body. Say bungie did “fix” flinch bc btw flinch does not mean the same thing in real life, so who is to say what is “real” flinch. Any ways though would u prefer a game with unpredictable flinch where if u get shot your reticle could go in any direction?
-
I think it should pull the reticle away from the head no matter what, but be manageable. I respect your opinion, but I can’t even try to defend this or say it’s the best option.
-
I mean same here, but if the my decided to make me flinch in a random direction, like one time right, then, left, then down, then I will quit the game and so will everybody else. I just know that will never happen bc literally every other game deals with flinch the same way as destiny does with it pushing u towards the head. This game just has way too many crybabies who can’t except that their are good player who have gotten used to flinch after this game being out for almost 7 years.
-
Wait, what? Every other game has flinch function this way? That isn’t even remotely true. I’ve never even heard of it any game other than Destiny, much less heard of it being the norm. People aren’t crybabies for wanting this changed. In a player vs player environment, this is completely indefensible.
-
Ok buddy, for one I’ve never played an FPS with a ttk as slow as destiny’s. And for two I’ve never played a game where I’ve been shot and found myself starring at ground.
-
Well that shows a certain disconnect from the playerbase. Nobody wants to be able to count their target's nose hairs in a game with the movement options of Destiny. If they do that, snipers are dead.
-
Yeah man it makes no sense, it’s just yet another band-aid fix because they aren’t willing to put the time and effort into fixing flinch. So they’re just going to make sniping harder and more frustrating in general. And people will still get sniped through flinch.
-
Yep. Sounds freaking terrible.
-
tbh you get flinched visaualy more with long zoom scope that might actualy work
-
Edited by RussellMania: 9/21/2020 10:36:21 PM
tbh you get flinched visaualy more with long zoom scope that might actualy work
Not really because flinch pulls your reticle towards the head. The issue isn’t not getting flinched enough, it’s flinch doing the opposite of what it’s supposed to do. Giving snipers more zoom will just make it harder to snipe in general.
