I say this all the time when I see posts like this, explaining there thoughts on Chronicler or Wayfarer, any title going away. The main question that keeps getting avoided is why didnt anybody see this coming or thought certain titles were going away once the destinations that were being vaulted were revealed months ago. You explained yourself very well on starting out on Chronicler at the beggining of this year, but if thats the case then why didnt a sence of urgency didnt cross your mind when we all heard the news that planets were going away. I even put up multiple posts on the forums on what titles might be going away. I nailed every single one of them. Chronicler, Wayfarer, Reckoner, Shadow, and Blacksmith. I even said to start working on them NOW or forever hold your peace Yet nobody took me seriously I started a little bit after the announcement and I just recently got Chronicler about 2 weeks ago. So for those who are now starting and mad why you dont have the title, I say its your own fault for not worrying about it sooner. All i see is Excuses

First off if you had that level of foresight even after Luke Smith's resolute speech about the team wanting to get rid of FOMO from Destiny, give me next week's lottery numbers since you clearly have abilities beyond the normal rank and file of humankind. Second, it is very interesting that you cite yourself as if everyone in the community saw your posts. Now you bring up the other titles. I'm glad you did. I wonder if you understand why there is an outcry about the Chronicler title and yet don't see the same reaction coming from the community from Wayfarer, Reckoner, Shadow, Blacksmith. Imagine for a moment the day after the TWAB came out announcing the vaulting of Titles that Bungie released a hotfix that removed these Titles from the loot pool. "Hey guys, Bungie here with a patch that has vaulted all the titles and seals that we announced yesterday." The community would have gone into a frenzy! I imagine the first six pages of the Feedback forums would be swamped with "WTF BUNGO, YOU CAN'T JUST VAULT THESE TITLES EARLY!" and "Bungie plz, you gave us no warning you were doing this" and "'Vaulting begins Nov 10th' did you forget Bungo!?" The root of the issue here is not the fact that the Chronicler title is going away, but rather that Bungie made this announcement 10 weeks before November 10th, giving Guardians ample time to obtain Wayfarer, Reckoner, Shadow, Blacksmith, but not enough heads up for Chronicler. Say what you will about "you had 2 years", but it comes down to the fact that any blueberry in the game right now has enough time with enough dedication to obtain all the titles above with the amount of time Bungie gave as a heads up except for Chronicler. But, the thing is, it is not the fault of the blueberry. Even if the blueberry devoted every waking moment for the next 8 weeks to this game, that blueberry still would not be able to obtain the Chronicler title since this title is locked behind an egregious time gate of 33 weeks. But enough beating around the bush, my solution to this issue is simple: leave the Chronicler Seal open for those stuck on Variks the Loyal, Marasenna, and Truth to Power since you know....these locations are still going to be there after November 10th.

  • Reckoner is the only one that could Theoritically be completed in 1 day if one was to do so. Blacksmith and Shadow require minimum less than a week, and takes minimum 6-8 weeks based on the ascendant challenges (forgot how many there are) I didnt memtion those because they do not compare at all to the amount of time getring Chronicler. If you are going for all these titles, then more than limely Chronicler would be the last one you would get.

Dude it doesnt take a genius to ask himself "better safe than sorry". I cant see the future but i can hypothesize and guess what could happen based on the info given to me. I could also look at a calender and calculate if its even possible to get Chronicler from the day I recieved my first Truth to Power Lore. What im trying to say is you learn predictions in elementary school during math class and Hypothesis on English..... Im also not very smart if you meet me in person

So what is your solution to those who joined Destiny or just started playing Destiny shortly before the announcement? Cause "better safe than sorry" doesn't apply to new Guardians. Oh sure the veteran players that applies a little better to, but are we not going to give any thought newer Guardians who might want this title? But hey, maybe I'm just wasting my breath. I mean you got the title already, who really cares about those that don't have it and may still want it right?

Then to them its an Ungettable title, just like MMXIX, MMXX, Undying, Savior, and Forerunner. If they want a title Cursebreaker and Dredgen are available for them to get if they really want a title, and relitively easy to get. As for those who had time to get Chronicler, i guess it wasnt as important to you as you thought 🤷 It is what it is. You miss deadlines then you miss out on whatever it is you want.

  • Ah okay so it is alright that for them that title is already vaulted even though Bungie said vaulting doesn't begin till November 10th. Good to know.

  • Lets do some math here. For those who wanted Chronicler, the last Cure week before Beyond Light launches is October 20th. If one was to do the glitch, one would have to start in July 7th to get to acquire Chronicler. Anything later than that is mathematically impossible to acquire the title if nothing is changed. I started back in March and missed a couple of curse weeks here and there. Sometimes only got one per curse week. I figured out this math just now by looking at a calender and google searching the past curse week before beyond light. You mean to tell me no one prepares like this before going for a lengthy task such as Chronicler. There are some anomalies for instance bungie kicking everyone out of a free ttp lore do to maintenance. I thought that was annoying as it happened to me multiple times. But yea if your not cut up to date then your only hope is if Bungie makes the dreaming city curse be a curse week every week all the way up until Beyond Light. I have sympathy for those who came in late, but at the same time I dont. Its a title meant for the dedicated, loyal, and long time Destiny player. I dont think most players who came into the game this late would even care about titles.

  • You're expecting everybody to go into getting titles like they're preparing for college or something. I started Chronicler before you and my personal preferred playstyle is NOT looking at guides and glitching content. I want to explore and discover things on my own, especially when it comes to stuff like lore. Hell, I like exploration so much that I did both regular and heroic Zero Hour without any guides. Because it's more fun! Way back in March or whatever we had no idea about vaulting at all, let alone vaulting of a title that can theoretically still be completed in Beyond Light since the Dreaming City is staying in the game. No amount of foresight or preparation could've made me come to this illogical conclusion that Chronicler would go without Bungie offering a way to get it. Again, once they announced vaulting, they made a plethora of changes to the game to let people finish their quests and collections. Even if I knew about all of this in advance, I would've assumed that Chronicler would be immediately included in ease of access so it can be finished. And to be honest, the team acknowledged that not including it was an oversight. Because it was. Curse week stopped meaning anything since the launch of Shadowkeep and the moment Shattered Throne was taken off the time-gate. TtP should've followed at the same time. Personally, I don't think looking up guides and using glitches equals dedication. Loading up a guide is easy. Did it plenty of times when looking for Ahamkara eggs. I still preferred finding them on my own. I think dedication is spending an hour in an ascendant challenge trying to find the illusive eggs without putting up a youtube guide next to me and blindly walking to the location of the item. But to each their own! Either way, I'm set. I need 4 pieces and there's 2 more curse weeks. I will begrudgingly use the glitch to finish the title if Bungie doesn't offer an official solution in the meantime. But I do care about everybody in progress to get this title, regardless of when they showed up to the game or what their motives are or why they haven't finished it sooner. It's not my business to know every single detail of their reasons. They should be given a chance because Bungie decided to give everybody a chance to get everything going into the vault. Chronicler should not be an exception. We can go back and forth 24/7, but ultimately, Bungie made concessions for vaulted content and they forgot about Chronicler. The point of this is to remind them not to leave it behind.

  •
You explained yourself very well on starting out on Chronicler at the beggining of this year, but if thats the case then why didnt a sence of urgency didnt cross your mind when we all heard the news that planets were going away.
Oh, it did. I immediately triple-checked if I collected everything for Chronicler that is tied to locations being vaulted. I found out I had everything done except TtP which is in The Dreaming City: a location not being vaulted. There was no reason to think I would be in any danger, BUT I still continued doing my TtP each curse week without missing a single one. I assumed other titles you mention would be vaulted because they entirely relate to DCV locations. But, we weren't told Chronicler would be vaulted until 3rd of September. In hindsight, maybe we should've assumed that as well, but everything looks more reasonable in hindsight. People didn't think Chronicler would be vaulted because it's 90% tied to Tangled Shore and Dreaming City. I also couldn't have done anything at the time to speed up the process of a quest in progress because of the time-gate imposed by Bungie. Speaking of that... I only found out about the glitch to get 2 lore pieces per curse week on 3rd of September because people started panicking. I personally do not like cheating the game so I was not looking for any glitches to speed up the process of getting TtP prior to the moment when Chronicler was announced as going into the DCV. Now, if Bungie doesn't include Chronicler in their efforts to help people finish their quests, I'll have to use the glitch to complete my title. Luckily, I only need 4 pieces so I'm set for the next 2 remaining curse weeks. I'd like to point out that the glitch argument also completely invalidates arguments about the title being "devalued" if Bungie offers a different way to acquire TtP since the title has already been devalued by people cheating to get 2 pieces per week.

  • I understand that about glitching. But the reality of the situation is if you just started out on Chronicler after sunsetring was announced and didnt do the glitch, you would not get Chronicler. It might sound bad, but its more about how much do you want this title. If you really wanted, you wouldve done whatever you can to gey it as fast as possible, which means glitching it. I use myself as an example because i did do this and was able to aquire Chronicler I wamted Chronicler but feared i might have been to late. I did my research on how to get everything done fast and learned about the glitch. Fast forward 3 months later and I have the title now.
