Part Three
“Here we go,” Skye breathed as she tapped a few more keys on her keyboard. “I’ll stay here for a wee bit longer to make sure he didn’t leave behind any more traps, then I’ll be with you all as soon as I can. Remember we’re not trying to kill him, and be careful. Good luck.”
The blast doors before each hero slid open, revealing a large and circular room with high ceilings. In the very center was the core, a glass cylinder fifty feet in diameter, elevated on a dais and glowing faintly with blue light. Errol stood before it with a wide stance, alone and without his Atoms by his side. His head whipped around to make eye contact with his enemies as each door opened. For a brief moment, concern grew on his face, only to harden again. He raised his chin in defiance, and held out his hands on either side of himself, as though to challenge his opponents.

Grey clouds now hang from the sky, and a light rain falls from it. As Skye supports her brother once more, she begins to move a little away from the mountain along with the group. “Where are you from, anyway, Dain?”
-
“Not From here or anywhere near here. I come from a far away land, actually don’t know how I got here, one day I was forced through a portal by some enemy and here I am.”
-
“What? Why would anyone do that?”
-
“I was fightin’ a durned crazed wizard and he thought that the best way to be off with me.”
-
“Oh... I’m sorry, Dain. It’s really... less than enjoyable to be away from home for so long. Do you know if there’s a way to go back?”
-
“I ain’t sure but there has to be some way. I’d be surprised if I can’t find meself some Portal here in this strange place.”
-
“Is your home in another universe? Because Dally’s ship has the ability to travel to different universes. She could probably try to help you find it.”
-
“Probably, I ain’t knowin but I think as much. I’ll find a way out of here don’t ye doubt.”
-
“I don’t doubt you’ll find a way one bit,” Skye replies with a smile. “If we somehow meet again after this—and I hope that we do—let me know if you need any help.” The group stops, and Blaze’s ship descends to land before them. Most of everyone starts to enter it.
-
*The dwarf gets in as well.* “Aye, I’ll seek ye out. And ye do the same if ye need help of yer own.”
-
“I will.” Before fully entering the ship, Skye pauses and pulls out from beneath her brother’s arm, looking at him in concern. After an assertive, albeit solemn nod from Errol, she starts to walk away. “I’ll meet you all there, Dain. I’m going with Chiara in her jet so that it’ll be less crowded in Blaze’s ship.”
-
“Fair enough. See ye in a bit.”
-
She jogs off, and Errol leans against the wall of the ship as far away from the group as he can get with his back facing them. He spoke to Blaze and Dally a little on the flight, though rather reluctantly. Soon, the ship begins to land again near the house.
-
“How’s yer would Errol, need help getting out o here?”
-
Errol looks to Dain and stands up straight. “I think I’ll be fine, this time, but thank you.” Though his tone is still a little flat and hard, he nods in genuine gratefulness.
-
“Suit yerself then.” *He waits to see if the man is fine or is just being stubborn and refusing help.*
-
Errol seems to move on his own well, though he is still clearly wearied by Loot’s blow. He approaches Dally, offers his good arm to help her out of her seat, and carefully supports her as she follows Blaze and Fox out the door.
-
*The dwarf will follow, eager to maybe get to a place where there is a forge again. And eager to destroy the gloves.*
-
Skye already has the door to the house open, waiting for everyone to come inside and escape the rain. She smiles upon seeing them.
-
“Aye, they’re ye are! I haven’t seen ye in ages!” The dwarf jests as he enters the house. “Do ye happen to have an axe hanger? It’s like a dwarven coat hanger.”
-
Her gaze lingers for a moment on Errol, who is still cautious of Dally’s own wound as the group rushes inside. She shuts the door and chuckles at Dain’s joke. “Um... no, I don’t think we have any specifically dwarven coat hangers, but we have a human one!” She points her thumb up at a few hooks in the wall beside the entrance, and shrugs apologetically.
-
“And what good would that do me, I can’t reach.” *he chuckles.* “But that’s perfectly fine, yer hospitality is enough.”
-
Gonna hit the hay, have a good night!
Her smile remains. “Well, if you have something that needs to be hung up to dry, I can start up the stove and we can hang it up on a chair. Father used to do that all the time.”
-
“A place that lacks electrical heating? Already feels more like home.”
-
“Well, we have some electricity, but we don’t use it too often because of the cost. It could get rather expensive.” She kneels beside the stove, and places inside a few logs from a pile of wood on the side. It doesn’t take her too long to get a fire started. “I know how weird that must sound... We live in a house that’s not very advanced, yet we wound up using all of this technology from a laboratory.”
