Ada, Black Armory, sunsetting, returning players

When I stopped playing Destiny it was still under Activision. Part of the reason I left is everything I enjoyed doing kept vanishing. I loved the faction grind for Dead Orbit, loved Crucible, and we saw both suffer under Activision. After much persuasion from friends trying to convince me that Bungie has worked so hard and fixed so much, that I should come back as I would love Destiny like I used to, I did and I do. They were right, it's amazing again. But like here we go again.. lol a friend just told me about sunsetting... now that my new favorite thing on Destiny in place of Dead Orbit is Ada and the Black Armory, it's going away. ZzzZ So my question is why? I understand why the Dead Orbit is gone, the lore kind of demanded it. It would be nonsensical for them to have remained. The city needed to come together after it almost fell and all that, I understand why factions are gone. But I don't understand why they are just trashing Black Armory and Ada. Ada goes into this whole thing about the future of the Armory, and how guardians getting access is this new direction they're embracing. The weapons are gorgeous, they feel good, it gives me that faction grind feel... I really don't understand why they don't just sunset her current arsenal if they MUST I guess, and just give us new Armory objectives and weapons. Like, keep Ada around, keep the Armory, just refresh the content. My own bad timing I guess but it's super frustrating to come back, have this new thing I love, and now it's gone like next month... REALLY frustrating and takes a lot of the wind out of my sails. I enjoy the pve part of Destiny, I like Black Armory, and I LOVE doing the forge even when I don't have a frame. It's chaotic and challenging and fun. And I reiterate again, why trash the whole armory? Is there a replacement faction for it? Or more of that old frustration of just a gaping hole where content used to be? Bungie, just refresh the Armory, don't ghost it. I love Ada, and the lore, and the Armory, just bring new objectives in instead of closing the doors.

  • This is one of my favorite arguments in the destiny forums. Chok full of easy to find questionable facts, some really well supported truths and just the right amount of spite and anger. The simple truth of the matter is that bungie is not a publisher, they are developers. So here we are nearing the end of year 1 post activision and there has been little to no new content. Just regurgitation, reskins and more unnecessary monetary items. They are in over their heads trying to publish and develop. That should be obvious by the fact that most publishers are billion dollar plus corporations on the stock exchange and developers are privatly owned llc's (at least in bungies case). It takes money and resources to keep a game "running". Bungie NEEDS to find a new publisher so we can get what we deserve from them. Development! You may hate activision but they are like wallmart. Everyone says they hate that place, while they are once again shopping there. We need the real bungie back. You remember them, they brought us D1, forsaken, black armory, raids with insane graphix and mechanics, exotics with actual quest lines, zero hour, whisper quest and scorn. Well, we can forgive them for scorn, not every ball goes over the fence. Post activision there is no imigination because all their money and resources are focused on publishing. Ok, I kind of got on a soap box there but when something so great is going so bad its hard to watch. If I were a pvp player I sappose I would not even see the problems. Pvp is simple to run and takes no real devolpment. Yet even there bungie is regurtating maps and some pvp players would really like something new. Pve is just trash now and so is the player base. 90 to 110k daily users now versus 900k to 1.1m during forsaken. Look to Steam for that fact. To sum it up, bungie is great at what they do, but they dont do publishing. For those of us who love this game I think we should all agree that they need a new publisher, fast. If you really read the roadmap of the next 3 years bungie posted you might be surprised. Its very well worded but lays out how vaulting will allow them to regurtate old content when they have nothing new. Integrating D1 is an easy splash of content we paid for and played before. And they even admit the game is too large for them to handle thus vaulting and sunsetting. Really really read it. Dont skim over it and get the impression were getting 3 new raids in year 1 or new fun stuff like the whisper quest. Its 3 years with 3 raids which 2 will likely be from D1. A new planet but no true mention of a new enemy. Not a word worth knowing about quests, strikes, pvp maps, gambit maps, etc. I can easily get 60 bucks worth of joy from what they are offering but its highly probable that when the next gen consoles drop another game will emerge as the better choice. And it will be because they did it right with a developer and a publisher. Food for thought!
