Nah we go as off topic, offtopickles, and a few other things. But the flood died.

 • That’s a good story, son. You get a pat on the head. I might even try and catch one of your soccer games one of these years. Here’s a story related to what you’ve told your old man. You can listen while I inspect the good silverware and your mom’s fine china real quick.
Back in the day when #OffTopic was first becoming a thing and ‘The Flood’ was being phased out, there was a great deal of discontent. You see, the administrator Achronos had for years been threatening to nuke the Flood, and the Flood never took him seriously. Then, one day, he did. The forums were rearranged and the forum known as ‘The Flood’ was turned into #OffTopic. It wasn’t all cut and dry, but pre-Destiny B.net was a purely dark theme. With the new update came a new look. A bright new look. The old dark theme was replaced with a pure white theme, and it hurt the eyes of most everyone who viewed it. The Flood lost their name and their image. They hated #OffTopic. Now, this is all important because the Flood really hated anything to do with the word “OffTopic”. I was hanging out deep in the recesses of some long forgotten private group full of members who were veterans of the site even back then. One of them, who a Ninja (a Mod, if they don’t call them that anymore) at the time or perhaps after the fact, made jesting mention of a new term to describe the denizens of this new forum. The Offtopites. We all had a laugh, but I myself had an idea. It was time for some shenanigans. We were gonna -blam!- with the Flood, and we were going to do it hard. I explained the idea to those present, and the word went out to veteran members of the B.net community that they were needed. When all the preparations were complete, and everyone knew their roles, we began our treacherous work. I constructed a thread declaring that since ‘The Flood’ was no more, the Flood themselves no longer existed. As such, a new name was required. I declared that from now on, “Offtopites” would be the best term. Immediately, a number of veteran members of the community swarmed into the thread, vocalizing their agreement with this movement. Threads were made putting emphasis on the use of the term “Offtopite”. We even had a private group by the name. Much of the Flood reacted instantly in a delirious fervor. They were angry. They did not like this. They did not like it even more when they were themselves called Offtopites by respected, veteran community members. Some caught on to the joke, and eventually participated in drawing lines in the sand. For weeks this war raged without end in #OffTopic, generating many spirited debates in various formats. Like all things that pass through here, it eventually subsided and the people involved lost interest, but it did end up making for quite the good tale.
Please don’t tell your mother I was here. If she asks where all the kitchen supplies are, tell her John Cena broke in and took them.

 • Oh I could tell a million stories, and more from just my time around the Flood.
