I just requested a refund for Beyond Light. I'm done.
SoH broke me. Forced PVP? No ornaments from last years SoH armor? I am so tired of not being able to play this game the way I want with the gear and weapons I want, and this was the straw that broke me. I just want to be able to equip the gear I like, the weapon I want, and play without being instantly nerfed as a result. Doing dailies is painful, as I have to use weapons and sub classes I dont like. Farming upgrade mats is painful as I now know you will nerf my gear at a whim later on and waste my time invested in master working them. Same with weapons. Whats the point of playing a game when I have to play YOUR way and not mine? Why should I keep paying you to tell me to stop having fun and use the gear and weapons you want?
I logged in yesterday, managed to grind out the blue gear requirements, and.... I just cant anymore. Its not fun. It feels like a second job. A responsibility or an obligation. Not something fun to do with friends or clanmates. Nobody I talked to is happy with this game, they just endure it, like an achy back or sliver in their finger, hoping it gets better. I am done hoping man. I'm just done.
I dont expect a warm welcome here, I just hope that some dev reads this, sees the real world consequence of poor game design and passes it along to somebody in charge. I feel like the abused wife of a relationship. Bungie keeps doing things that make me not like their game while saying how much they 'listen' the whole time. How much they 'hear' me and want me to be happy and know they care. Its clear you dont and never will. It should not be this hard to play a looter shooter. I quit WOW when it stopped being fun. I quit Overwatch when it stopped being fun. Now I quit Destiny when it stopped being fun.
This guardians eyes are down, permanently.

I have done this exact same thing mate. I love Destiny been playing since the Alpha of D1 but justt cant be bothered anymore.

For 1 the SoH gear gives you a month to do them. Are they buffing and nerfing weapons and gear, yes, pretty much every game does that. Outside of pvp and light specific activities light the nightfall ordeal strikes, you can use what you want. I have older gear and weapons that are considered trash now. I can still put them on and play half the game. Actually until sunsetting starts, i can up everything level wise and still use them in everything outside of trails and comp pvp. If you try to acquire everything in the game, yes it's a huge. If you just play and only go for things you want, then it isn't. I didn't grind for jack for the first 2-3 years, and was perfectly happy. Don't get mad at the company because you stressed yourself out.

They never announced or mentioned anything about previous SoH armor sets being universal ornaments. And I hear what you’re saying, but I just don’t think it’s all that bad. Like I don’t mind PvP in general, and it’s always been a part of a lot of quests, especially in previous SoH years. They’ve always had PvP requirements in some way for the armor. At the very least they did make it ornaments this year, and not even require you to finish more than the first set in order to purchase them this time around. I also understand why so many people feel discouraged by the sunsetting thing still thinking they’re “forced” to play a certain way, but that’s not necessarily the case in my opinion. There’s a lot of weapon options in the game still, and we can still very much use the ones we already have for the next few months. Plus, each of them have like a year lifespans and by that point I would welcome new stuff after using them for that long. I would though like another way of earning ascendant shards, but besides that I don’t think nightfall farming is that bad. It doesn’t take too long and it’s fun just blowing through a strike to see how fast you ca do them. Never takes more than 15-20 minutes depending on the strike itself. Also the armor you masterwork will last a year as well. All this isn’t just me being a mindless fanboy, it’s just my personal experience with the game. Plus, I am looking forward to playing Vault of Glass again, and the Cosmodrome. Also playing some of the old strikes again. Just think some of us need to think a little more logically with all this stuff. It’s not that bad.

I’ve said it before and now I’ll say it again, this game is best in small doses. Play for a couple hours a >few times a week< and it’s not that bad. It can even be enjoyable. Play >everyday for a couple hours< and it gets old real quick. I never understood the point of playing 1 game and nothing else anyway. When there are so many great games out there!

23 RepliesYou tried to grind out armor than can be stretched out for a month and you got tired or it. What a surprise. You can actually just play the game normally and get it done. Like no changes besides jumping in the aerial zone. But it sounds like its better for that battered baby heart to find a new game. God forbid you be forced to play this game that angers you so much. What devils bungie are for tying your hands up in this so called marriage. If only you had control on your decisions before this wide awake nightmare.

2 RepliesFunny, I voiced the same thing on the steam forum, and I've been mostly insulted by fanboys who apparently considers that complaining about the game being unoriginal and repetitive is "whining" about the game being too hard. I truly hope people here are a bit smarter. But yeah, that's exactly the point I made. Forced pvp, repetitive objective you have to do over and over again, it's always the same, in every season, every expansion, every event. Bungie dev team is probably the most unoriginal team I've seen. They have a grinding model, and a pvp mode so empty and boring they have to force people to play it. There are tons of stuff they could do with the universe they have, I have a good number of ideas myself, but they never try. They just do the same, all the time, same model, grind grind grind, forced pvp, up your power level just to unlock new activities, and start again on the new season, the new expansion, the new event.

Bungie isn't forcing you do anything. almost everything within the game is optional to do your the one who is making this game a second job. i freely use bows without a care in the world and im good with them you can use the weapons you want which is why im surprised your complaining because a guy with 2000+ hrs in this game and you cant use a gun you want to tells me you havent mastered how to use them.

I'm with you here, except I didn't even bother pre ordering. Now for those whom still thinks Bungo has the best intentions, wake up and stop drinking the Halo Kool-Aid. It's been 6 years and Bungo has botched it all up. If you need proof go rewatch the Curse of Osiris reveal. In it they show off the Mercury PE and Deej says something like I promised sweet rewards, there are 2 chests and we get some tokens and a blue. Just hearing him and watching it was aweful because he didn't know or wasn't told about the loot and it started the whole 2 tokens and a blue meme. Sorry to the diehards but D2 has become a dumpster fire that is slowly melting away.

You were playing their game yes had on that armor set and had a revelation that they were driving you yet again to play something you don't want to play with a subclass you don't want to use etc etc etc right? Okay but you are here. There was likely a lot of time spent to get here. Most of us have been here for a long long time. That is because of the positive things in this game that are not found in other places. Here is a thought. Don't let them win. Just take that set of blue armor with a built in months worth of bounty grind in them and trash it. Now equip all those things you just said you want to use and then go do whatever you want. Bounties hey up to you. Want to grab the bounties associated with what you are doing great have at it. Don't want them okay not a problem. Are you really nerfed now? No you are not. You don't need masterworked armor or weapons. You don't need the best perk set on the best 600 AR.....though it doesn't hurt but hey you can totally take a crappy whatever suits you and go have some fun. It just means you now are free to play how you want cause you are not chasing the next set of tasks put in front of you.

At least you can say you've done a few raids, it's more than I can say. For me, too much of this game is locked behind nonsense I am not interested in engaging with. So much you can't do without a team. Though I try to get some things done, a lot of it is impossible alone... That IS what it feels like, a second job, one you don't get paid for. It's a shame. Recently I was very proud of how Bungie stood up for a noble cause but sadly it's not enough. We here who play games to get away from the grind of life, hope for something better than being ground up ourselves, too many locked doors in this game and the rinse and repeat that leaves your eyes bleeding and your mind like gello.

1 ReplyThe restrictions I've always viewed as a challenge. But that's my perspective. As for anything being forced........listen. If you feel forced into doing something. It's probably high time you step away for a while. I burnt through the blue set and mostly through the majestic set yesterday. I looked at what I'd done. Checked the time. Called it a day and relaxed. There's playing the game. Then there's putting yourself in a dire position of feeling like you're doing a job. I'd like to take you back to season of the worthy. When bunkers were there. I put the game down for a while and shaved my playtime down because I was beginning to feel burned out. Farming upgrade mats is relatively easier now than it's ever been especially with Spider in the mix. Might do a guide sometime on it since it seems to be an ever growing topic of concern for people. So why am I doing SoH? I didn't do it last year. I'm doing it this year to challenge myself.

I'm done too. Playing a game I cant enjoy? No. I'm not stupid. Been playing other games and having fun. Enjoyed d1 and d2 partly, but I've simply had enough.
