I stop by on my way from work, still in my lab coat and signature smirk. “Bonjour! Got anything strong on tap?”

  • Cara glances over your attire curiously, giving a light sigh before nodding and moving towards a back room. “Ye have anythin’ in particular ye want?” She asks in an Irish accent.

  • “Your best, if you’d be so kind.” I smile and take a seat, pulling out my purse. It’s really more of a bag, but it holds my funds. “Long day?”

  • Cara swiftly returns with a pleasant-smelling drink in hand. She mumbles to herself in frustration as a little of the liquid spills out over the side and onto her hands. She grabs a clean cloth from her pocket to wipe down the side of the cup before setting it before you. “Heavens, is it tha’ easy ta tell?”

  • I chuckle lightly as I take the vessel. “I’m no psychologist, but I can read people fairly well. It helps a lot to be understanding and compassionate in a hospital. What’s on your mind?” I start to take a sip but quickly stop myself. Blushing, I extend my arm to shake your hand. “I’m sorry, I should introduce myself. My name is Izuma Lunae, and I work at the Hospital for Little Wings.”

She dries off her hand before taking your hand. She smiles to see a friendly visitor. “No need fer worries an’ apologies, lass. It’s a pleasure ta meet ye. I’m Cara McEwan.” Her smile fades slightly. “And I’m just a wee concerned fer another... fellow o’ mine.”
Going to call it a night, I’ll continue with you after work tomorrow!
• “A pleasure to meet you, miss McEwan.” I smile and sip my drink, taking time to enjoy it. “What ails your friend? I may be able to help. You don’t get into an order of clerics if you don’t help people when the opportunity comes!” I chuckle and undo my hair tie, letting it all fall back.

  • She looks at you a brief moment, as though studying you a little more. With a thoughtful hum she crosses her arms. “Ye seem like a trustworthy one. She’s preparin’ ta... chase after someone with bad intentions, an’ she won’ be able ta do it all on her own. It’s not my place ta say much more, ye would have ta talk ta her yerself. Metinks she could use the help.”

  • “Well, my first instinct would be to call the sheriff, but I haven’t seen him in a while. My second would be to offer my services, since someone will probably get hurt along the way, and medics are few and far between in these parts.” I comb my hair for a few moments before tying it up again. Sipping my drink, I look around the tavern, noting the lonely traveller. “Where can I find your friend, Cara?”

  • “I’d imagine skills in healin’ would be a good ting ta offer fer the quest she is settin’.” Cara tilts her head towards a set of ascending stairs on the far side of the room. “In her room upstairs. I can take ye ta her if ye like.”

  • “As long as it wouldn’t bother her, I’ll gladly take you up on that offer.” I down my drink, and reach into my bag. I count out the gold pieces, and leave a nice tip. “Onward and upward, eh?” I giggle and close my bag.

  • Cara smiles gratefully, then begins to lead the way up the stairs. “Aye, right this way.” The stairs end at a balcony that overlooks the first floor. She pauses at one of a few hallways on the right side and turns to you. “Fourth door ta the left. Just call me if ye need anythin’.”

  • “Will do. Merci, Cara” I give a short bow, and walk down the hall. I brush my clothes to make sure they’re straight, and knock. “Bonjour! Cara told me you might need a healer to catch some fellow who’s up to no good?”

  • Cara bows her head with a smile in response and returns to her place downstairs. You hear some scuttling around on the other side of the door before it opens to reveal a tall woman of about twenty years of age. She is wearing a blue hoodie and jeans, and her dark brown hair is pulled back into a braid. Her green eyes look at you curiously. “She told you about Errol?” She asks in a mild Scottish accent.

  • “‘Errol’? Miss McEwan didn’t give me a name, only that you needed help and mine might be appreciated. On that note, I’d like to offer my services.” I make a short bow as I introduce myself, and adjust the sword at my side in a force of habit. Smiling, I reach out for a handshake. “I’m Izuma Lunae, and I work at a hospital in downtown OffTopic. You are miss Skye, I presume?”

  • Skye nods and extends her own hand. “It’s—it’s nice to meet you, Izuma. And... um... Errol is that ‘fellow who is up to no good.’ My last encounter with him didn’t end how I hoped... I definitely wouldn’t mind some help. It’s a wee bit of a mess in here, but you’re welcome to come inside so we can talk about it.”

“I don’t mind, I’ve seen people get put back together today, so this is quite tame in comparison!” I chuckle, and look for a place to sit as I enter.

  • “Oh, well that’s good to know, I think!” She gestures to a chair beside a table to the leftcovered with various metals parts and tools as she begins to kick crumpled up balls of paper under her bed on the right. “How much did Cara tell you?”

  • “Really not much, I’ll admit I’m mostly here because of my curiosity, and I feel I could do some good.” I chuckle and take the seat. I glance at your feet kicking the papers away, but don’t mention it. “So who’s this Errol fellow?”

  • Skye takes a short moment of silence as she continues her last-minute cleaning before she replies. It is quite easy to tell that it isn’t always easy for her to talk about the subject. “Errol is my brother. Er—by adoption. His father adopted me when I was a wee lass. But he was murdered about five years ago, and in that time Errol developed a thirst for revenge and a... twisted sense of justice. He wants to kill the murderers out of cold blood, and end whatever he thinks is ‘corruption’, and he doesn’t realize that he is killing innocent people, too.” She sighs and sets a stack of whole papers beside a glowing red orb on the bed. “It’s my responsibility to stop him... it’s been kind of hard for me to ask for help in this, but Cara’s right in thinking that I... can’t do it alone.”

  • "Dang, I'm sorry Skye. I know how hard family strife can be, and while I can't stop my own, I'd be glad to help someone else's." I smile warmly, and adjust the sword at my side. I notice the orb, and raise my eyebrow in quizzical expression, but don't question it. "If nothing else, I want to stop innocent lives from being lost. And while I do prescribe to a more reserved and clerical role, I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty!"

  • Skye looks up from the papers at you gratefully, though she still seems sad at the memories brought up by explaining the situation. She glances down at your sword. “That’s... that’s good to hear, because there will most likely be a fight before I can try to convince him to stop what he is doing. I... I really appreciate this. Thank you, Izuma.”

  • “You’re very welcome! I don’t need any reward-let’s just say my parents are loaded-but even if I didn’t, I’d take this job for free. We may not be able to convince him of the error of his ways, but people are being hurt, and I won’t stand for it. And hey, if you ever need a hand Skye, take this.” I toss you a small, almost quarter size and thick, coin. On one side is a butterfly, and the other a flame insignia. “I’m not very tech savvy, although I’m working on that, but if you flip this coin it’ll tell me. And don’t worry about calling at odd times of the night: I don’t sleep!”

  • Skye is quick to snatch the coin out of the air. “No sleep? That’s a handy ability to have.” She examines it between her finger and thumb and blinks at it with interest. “Thank you, I’ll be sure to keep this nearby.
