This sounds cool, but there's just one problem: Oryx was killed in D1 and the last of his essence was imbued into Touch of Malice... which we left behind in D1.

Yes, you are correct. However, as I stated with DemonoidMaster, if Bungie was going to do everything by the lore and chronology then we probably wouldn't be getting old Destiny 1 raids returning into Destiny 2 via the DCV. But If Bungie wants to shoehorn a lore reason as to why we're going back or re-fighting the enemies as DemonoidMaster said, that would be preferable. And since old raids are returning, and if all their gear is returning too, then shouldn't the raid exotic return as well? If you want, you can take a look at DemonoidMaster's Comment and read through the conversation we had. Both of you bring up good points about how, in lore and chronologically, we should not get the Necrochasm/Touch of Malice back.
