I ALWAYS, without fail, see these posts pop up before every major expansion.
“I cancelled my preorder.”
“I’ve preordered everything since D1 but no more!”
And then the new stuff arrives and hardly anyone can play because the servers are slammed with people trying to get in

The most pathetic part about it is that, most of them don't go through with it and are just sounding off to try to get someone at Bungie to notice them and make them feel more important than they actually are. Ironically those folk who do go through with it, find themselves unable to make a clean break. You will still find them lurking on these forums or on Destiny Reddit looking for a validation they will never receive like some creepy stalker ex who just cannot let go and hates the fact their former lover is happy without them. Seriously, if these folk are going to leave the game like they say they are going to do then they should just leave and be done with it without having to waste their time telling all and sundry about it in the vain hope someone tells them not to go. They should make a clean break, uninstall the game, delete their Bungie.net account and completely leave everything Destiny related behind without looking back ever again. But they rarely ever do this and we never hear from those that do because they see no need to tell the world about it.

That’s basically how you know they don’t truly mean what they say. They’re just angry in that exact moment and want to vent. I have a buddy who quit D2 back during Forsaken and hasn’t touched it since. Not once did he feel the need to post here about it

Of course, there are those like yourself who don’t buy it and stick with that, but all these dramatic posts that crop up before every major DLC all say the same thing, and they are, time and again, proven wrong on release day. So I do know what the facts mean

But that's not the same for everyone. Case and point, the director lost 80% of the player base with the base game and CoO. In fact, this game population isn't anywhere near where it should be even when the next expansion is released. Some will come back but not all.

The content back then was fairly dismal, and yes of course not ALL will be back. But my observations over the years have seen way more come back then not

Things like rebooting the game, having the WoW guy as the director that had no experience other than playing WoW, and being a journalist.
