Sunsetting is necessary for this reason: Stat rolls that are years old. People are playing crucible with the same gear they've had for literal years. The only issue I see with sunsetting is legendary ornaments. I think having them in the first place was a mistake. Ornaments should remain exclusive to exotics. Sunsetting only applies to legendary gear. Your exotic gear collection is the only gear collection that should matter. I don't understand why sunsetting legendary gear has everyone miffed. It makes no sense to me. If you were going to try and show off your legendary gear collection to anyone, I'd be like, who tf cares, even if it is all maxed out. I really think the long term collection emphasis should be on exotics and exotics only, which are not being sunsetted. Some will be rare as hell to see in a few years, but the people collecting it all today will be able to show it all off years down the road. Your legendary gear though? No one will care.
