By definition, at least 75% of players are worse than they are. Yet, there is an 82% chance that the other team has at least one such player in every match: (1 - 0.75^6) == 0.822. There's a 19% chance that [b]two[/b] top 25% players are on the other team: (1 - 0.75^5) * 0.25 == 0.191. So, yeah, it's really common to have a very good player on the other team, and once that happens, it's basically over for anybody who isn't close to their skill level...so the bottom 60% of players are just kills waiting to happen. Plus, this ignores good players who play in the same fireteam. The math assumes all freelance, which means it's even worse, because if you get one good player on the other team, there is even [b]more[/b] of a chance that you get more than one. I died 3 times in spawn. Lots of fun...for the other team.

Doesn't all of that assume the entire player population of roughly 18 million all play? How many millions of players stepped into pvp once or twice, did poorly and never played again? Or how many players only play pvp for the 4 game pinnacle and give it no honest effort? I don't think saying someone is in the top x %, holds much value in that it's kinda misleading

If you want to quibble about whether a player listed as "top 50%" is really better than 50% of people who actively play, then I can see it might be a bit of an overstatement, but once you hit top 10%, there is no doubt that you are far better than most of the active player base. If you weren't really that good, you would drop as new players who [b]are[/b] that good join the game. Also, if your K/D is above 1, you are without a doubt above average (since the global average is 1...every final blow results in a death). What people seem to not understand in PvP stats that they understand in every other sport is that the first point above average doesn't mean much, but as you get farther and farther away, each point means you are a [b]lot[/b] better than players below. For K/D, pretty much every 0.1 means you are double/half the skill of another player, and the "top X%" rankings track with this. Meanwhile, all those people who are on the bubble about whether they like it are now being driven out, and the population will drop again, once the rewards aren't worth the grief. And, once again, the players who spend all their time in PvP will complain about the "sweatfest".
