Funny thing is according to Destiny Tracker, your stats are in the top 30% or better compared to the rest of the players. The fact that you're doing so much worse now goes to show how much you were pampered by the SBMM. You did relatively well without getting any good at pvp. I feel that CBMM is a more honest system. PVP is not supposed to be all inclusive, you're supposed to do better if you're good, and worse if you're not. If you want to face only the players of your skill level, you have Survival still offering SBMM. This is exactly the same as it was for good players in the past, every single match was a sweatfest unless they played classic mix, which was the only CBMM playlist. At least with CBMM overall connection quality is far better than it ever was with SBMM. In the past a good player not only had to sit through long que times, and have to face nothing but top players, but they also had to deal with terrible connections because the only players of their level were scattered around the world. Now you're connecting to players close to you majority of the time (fireteams break the system, as they did with SBMM), so there's less of an impact from conneciton quality.

  • I don't know if I'm truly in the top 30% or not. I know I'm not a top-tier player, and I know I'm not in the bottom 50%. And on console, I really don't care. (I play for fun, not stats. My sweat-fest days of caring about rankings are over.) What's interesting is this idea that someone has to be in the top 1% to have an opinion about the system itself. That idea is flawed. If, say, the bottom 5% consistently stop playing because it's just too hard for them, how long do you think it will take before there aren't enough people playing to continue to develop the platform? And yes, you can make the same argument about the top 1%. There has to be some middle ground. The top shouldn't have to wait so long to match-make. But they have to admit that throwing them in with a bunch of truly casual, bottom-50% players is a really, really bad idea.

  • No, I don't think it's a bad idea. I've always thought that FPS game matchmaking should always prioritize connection quality because of their fast pace, and hit registry being necessary. This isn't just a Destiny thing, this is for all FPS.

  • Sure, but most FPS aren't also looter-shooters. It's easy to avoid the parts of the game you don't like up until Bungie forces people to play it to get specific loot. After enough times through an activity they're not enjoying, they start extrapolating that lack of enjoyment to the game as a whole.

  • Makes no sense. If he was in the too 30 percent in sbmm he would be matched against better players than in cbmm. I think whats going on is in this cbmm this season there are far many more stacked teams since most high ranked players have to crutch stacks

  • Destiny matchmaking isn't based of your KD, they have their own "skill level" value, and nobody outside Bungie really knows how it is calculated. So having "good" stats on destiny tracker doesn't mean that Destiny saw him as a "good" player. Also I've seen far less stacked teams since CBMM was introduced. Fireteams always broke matchmaking with SBMM, just like they break CBMM now. Good players no longer need a stack to get good stats since they match against all sort of players now anyway. So I completely disagree with your assessment.

  • Disagree totally. So called good players just play stacks and always use the meta from what i have seen

  • That was also the same with SBMM, which as I said before, didn't work with stacked teams.
