So, I plan on resuming Broken Honor come July (I’m taking a bunch of college courses right now, but I’ll free up in July). I want to keep writing and writing, and the story is likely nowhere near finished, but I’ve had a thought.
I’m not going to spoil it, but there will come a point where I might have an opportunity to create an RP event that links with Broken Honor. It’ll likely serve as the conclusion to the story. Should I write a conclusion, or do an event?
Writing a conclusion means I can direct the end of the story according to my best judgement. I can probably eke out a few chapters and make it epic.
Alternatively, in an event, it’s unpredictable, but it’s a TON of fun. However, it’s not guaranteed to be the ending that I was hoping for. If I’ve learned anything from DMing, it’s that you never underestimate the creativity or stupidity of people. You can make something seem really obvious, and they might still not get it.
Edit: Here’s the other thing about an RP - several characters in the story are named after users. I’d have to make those characters my own so those people who submitted characters can RP as well.
Take Cmirg for example. Cmirg is my main villain, but I’m pretty sure he’d like to RP in the event and help bring the story to a conclusion.
Edit 2: Or I could post sign ups and do something like SpeakerOfTheDeep did with his Vault B raid - run a D&D-like thing through the ending and do OAFL-style posts recording it.

Edited by DarkEraser: 6/23/2020 11:34:59 AMMake the RP as some sort of "endgame" or an epilogue after the end of Broken Honor, so that whatever happens in the RP doesn't interfere with it's last episodes.

I think the safest route would be to finish it as a story which means that 100%, the story ends as you mean for it to. With an rp there's a little more risk with how people handle the rp and if they push for something that could ruin the story. But if you think you can handle the rp and make it work out with the story then great.

"High chance of death, small chance of success?" "What are we waiting for!?"

Also, it’s fun to go back and reread the previous chapters. Especially when there are several chapters in a row where people are like “Ronin’s back!” I have such a great track record XD

This is a good idea, but because you know where you want the story to go, it might backfire, especially if people want to pull the story in another direction, in the Vault B raid you all had a clear cut goal, enter the vault and rescue the president (and glope) if you do something like that make sure the characters have a singular goal in mind and prepare to lose people to other interests like Virus, who had no intention of helping the president and really just wanted access to the deep, ya get what I'm saying?

... I'd just do a story chief...
not included in the DLC
I'm not sure. While RPs are fun, it can completely mess up your story, which isn't so fun.

Definitely an RP.

Do whichever one you think would fit better, or which one you like more.
