"Sometimes when I'm alone, I see them. I can't figure out who they are, a man with a dog. They're happy together, the man starts small, and grows to be a young adult. But the dog just grows grey, and tired. The dogs muzzle droops, the bright eyes it once had grow dull with age. The man notices this one day and grows sad, he knows he doesn't have long with her.
He is ordered to go to a far off place for a long time, he looks at his companion eager to go see the next horizon, if her back legs were like they used to be, she would be hopping and running for the door. She won't survive the trip, the man knows this. They go to her favorite restaurant, she looks so happy and eats so much. He just watches her, memorizes every hair, every breath, every noise she makes.
After their meal they head out to one of his family members farms.
I lose sight of them, all I hear is a bang, the man comes back in hysterics and when he does, his pain cuts into my soul. His pain is my pain. And every day i relive it. Every day i feel this. And I can't let it go."
