Catalysts are just another way for Bungie to release untested, half baked Exotic weapons, then add even more grind, firstly to access the catalyst (through RNG) then secondly, more busy work/grind to complete catalyst - ending up with a weapon that’s (with a good one) close to being like it should have been released initially And with that said, there’s plenty of weapons that needed these catalysts (Thorn, Malfeasance, Sturm, Monte Carlo, Jötunn, Exotic Bows etc) and some that really need reworking (as they perform poorly - looking at you Vigilance Wing)
