You’re not missing anything, doesn’t make sense. Especially when bungie has proven they can avoid power creep with raid mechanics like crota, Kings fall, and wrath of the machine.

  •
raids like crota, Kings fall, and wrath of the machine.
*insert facepalm* Crota was a pretty darn good example like VoG of power creep with Black Hammer and even the Rocket Launcher being a G-Horn knock off. King's fall... I am sorry but were you not there in D1? We had sunsetting kick in for Taken King? It wasn't great in the loot department as the previous raids. Its clear as day they curbed down the power of the weapons in that raid due to PvP player complaints about so many top tier weapons coming from the raids. Wrath was the final raid of D1... the game was over at that point with no future content, why would Bungie care about power creep when no new future end game content is planned at that point?

*facepalm Not talking about loot, talking about the mechanics themselves. 3/4 of the encounters in Crota had zero boss melting, oryx is imo the best boss fight ever made. What do we have in D2? Drop boss to it’s knees, shoot crit the size of the sun, rinse and repeat until the boss of dead. This is where power creep comes from, being people are gonna melt the boss as fast as possible.
You’re not missing anything, doesn’t make sense. Especially when bungie has proven they can avoid power creep with raids like crota, Kings fall, and wrath of the machine.
Read that post. You mention 0 to do with encounters at all instead speak of just power creep. Which you need to remember. THERE WAS POWER DECREASE. Do you not remmber crota at all? People litteraly required G-HORN in that fight. Crota was POWER CREEP in a nutshell. King's Fall G-Horn was not a thing because it wasn't brought back till Wrath and in Wrath it was a nerfed G-Horn. We were weaker in Y2/3 compared to Y1 till Age of Truimph. They had to weaken us and do the opposite of power creep, reverse power creep. So you honestly think, the solution to our situation is the same as D1? Come on... its different. Edit: Now on to Bosses... here is a news flash: Bungie Raid Team can't design a raid boss for sh**. They balance raid bosses with far too low HP for much of a burn damage we have, because relying on standing in X place to do X damage is not good raid design. Good raid design would be a boss that doesn't become a b*tch like they do in this game where its just a turret masked as a boss that's really just another stupid puzzle encounter rather than a "raid boss". Raid bosses move around, they constantly attack, the group reacts to the boss, and DPS means DPS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FIGHT. Exotic primaries might actually be good for once if the game cared about long term DPS, but it doesn't. The raid team sucks at making raid bosses, and for some reason get praised for good raids, when they are just... bad. They look cool, but they are just bad. Oryx is the one raid boss they made that is actually close to a real raid boss. Its a puzzle raid boss, but he qualifies as an actual boss. Yes, I do agree with your message about raid bosses.

  • Figured it would be implied. Considering all the upvotes, and you’re the only one pointing this out, I think it was successfully implied by the vast majority. You could do Crota extremely easily without Ghorn. Ghorn only became a necessity when you tried doing the encounter with 3 or less people. Idk what reverse power creep means and all the rest of that part.
