My idea.... is to scrap it. Stop just releasing increasingly difficult versions of things we’ve done a million times already and make the game fun again. It doesn’t even sound rewarding anyway. It’s terrible way to impose challenge and a lame attempt to encourage replayability.

GMs were the most fun I’ve had in Destiny since the last raid release.

I enjoy challenge 🤷‍♂️ different strokes for different folks I suppose. Idk.. I just find the rest of the PvE content to be mind numbingly easy. There is nothing wrong with having challenging PvE content that is rewarding for the people who wish to partake in it. I'd do it every week and look forward to it. But like i've said I enjoy a good challenge.

  • I find that challenge can be fun, but it’s not my preference. I’d take having a fun world to run around in over challenge any day. That being said, I just don’t think making harder versions of activities we’ve already done a million times is the way to go. Also, I’m not sure how worth it something like GMs are depending on how many people actually play it.

And that's fine. The bulk of the player base spends a large portion of their time in game on patrol... I don't particularly enjoy patrol and avoid it like it's the plague but I won't knock someone for liking what they like 🤷‍♂️. They are for the hardcore. At the moment the only incentive to do them is a title. After that there is no reason which is a shame. Not many people raid or do dungeons so should they not be a thing as well? I personally enjoyed the grandmasters and wish they had more replayability. They have a real chance to expand the end game hence my suggestion. More people would also participate in them if they had their own specific loot.

  • No, I don’t think they should get rid of raids. I just think they should mold the game more to fit the players instead of trying to make the players fit the game. I struggle with how I think this game should be, but I don’t think it’s practical the way they do it now. It is artistic entertainment but they also need to make money too. Which is why it’s weird that they have continued to make and perpetuate things that lead than half of players play let alone complete. That being said, I don’t necessarily think should get rid of something like raids. They could release two versions of something like that that balance amount of rewards against the challenge. Me personally, I’d rather do a version of a raid that’s more like Menagerie and only get a SINGLE reward for the week because that would be way more fun for me. People that did the more difficult version would still get multiple rewards, one for each encounter. Another example would be things like Whisper, Zero Hour, and exotic quests strikes. Want the reward now? Do this LFG only times version. Don’t mind waiting? Do it multiple weeks in a row under each elemental burn or something like that. Anything to try to get people to play more considering this game is essentially different genres entirely with how vastly different it is from one activity to the next. Anything to promote replayability instead of letting people just opt not to play something.

  • Right different strokes for different folks. I wish raids were harder 🤷‍♂️ at the moment and in destiny 1 i've always felt PvE as a whole was/is extremely easy which results in me not having fun.. but that's just my opinion. Agreed. What I was suggesting though would add replayability and an extra layer of challenge for grandmaster nightfalls for the players that choose to participate in challenging content. There are a ton of different activities in destiny and not everything is for everyone which is fine.

And I wouldn’t want to remove that kind of challenge for those that like it. You have your fun and mire power to you. I honestly just don’t think it’s fine as it is now though because it’s rigid. It’s “play this or miss out” and it doesn’t have to be. I just want things to be in place that encourage people to play more. The reason I put forth my alternate raid example is because I don’t like raids. I eventually do each one once because I feel like I’m missing out on story if I don’t do them, but I’d raid every and with multiple characters if there was a less rewarding but more accessible version. It’s just inconsistent to run an entire story either solo or through matchmaking only to have it culminate in an activity that is absolutely nothing like everything leading up to that point. It’s not consistent to acquire a quest in PvE and spend hours doing PvE things and then suddenly be asked to participate in PvP with a weapon archetype that the player isn’t good with. Destiny IS a lot of different things and that COULD be a strength but with how rigid the model is it ends up being a weakness because again, this game is essentially different genres from activity to the next. There’s a reason some people don’t play games like Dark Souls and there’s a reason people don’t play FPS online games. I think their expectations of this player base are unreasonable because of this. I’m just tired of that being their go to for replayability.

  • Seasons do suck but grandmasters aren't tied to seasons. They are just an expansion on nightfalls which I never really did anyway aside from leveling. I get that. I didn't really like the menagerie though because there was no way to fail which lead to people not learning the mechanics or really even bothering with them.. that was kind of irritating. I don't mind going into PvP for quests it's nice to spice things up from time to time. It gets extremely old doing public events and what not for quests... especially when you have to wait on a specific public event. Grandmasters are aimed towards the people that like challenge though. Like I said my idea was just expanding on the PvE activity we already have but making it more rewarding for those that take on the challenge 🤷‍♂️ not sure why you think that's a terrible idea but that's difference in opinion I suppose. I'm tired of being forced into patrol for everything.

  • I do wish they would liven up the public areas. I like just running around doing random things at my own pace and meeting up with random people for events if I feel like it, but the planets never change. Nothing ever really changes. That’s what I’d like to see most. As they are now they are mostly for filler fetch quests but they could be so much more.

  • They did say pre launch that lost sectors were going to be as hard as nightfalls... for the first time ever I was excited about patrol.... then the game launched and I was extremely disappointed 😢. It was cool in D1 though when you'd encounter a group unlocking the gate to vault of glass and you'd help them..... that kind of stuff is far and few between but I miss it.

  • I didn’t play vanilla D2, but I can’t imagine that lost sectors were ever that hard. Whatever they were meant to be originally, they’ve turned into farms for quest filler objectives. I don’t mind easy as long as it’s fun. I want fun more than anything. Lost sectors got boring pretty quickly. I do miss that VoG opening as well. Venus was my favorite planet in D1. That was really cool. I wish there were more things that could happen in the public spaces that required more people and that were rewarding enough that people actually wanted to gravitate to them. Rare instances.

  • They never were that hard that's why I was disappointed.. it was just a flat out lie by bungie. What we have now is what they've been since launch.. a joke. I'm just kind of over public events. They were the best way to level up in vanilla D2 so i've done thousands upon thousands of them. And things like escalation protocol are just bigger public events. Idk I really don't know what they could do to make patrol fun for a player like me. But i'm glad you find enjoyment in it.

  • Challenge is one thing but passive play and fighting against champions that excessively regen their shields and health is not challenging to me when we are this weak in comparison. Passive play is not fun - regardless if it’s old or new content.

🤷‍♂️ I mean you don't have to be passive. But that is one way to go about beating them. There are a ton of different strategies one can utilize in the grandmasters. Champions don't regen health unless you aren't properly dealing with them. You can typically just delete them.
