This is exactly what worries me. I'm not the kind of person that grinds for specific rolls on weapons or gear, so the concept of sunsetting doesn't bother me too much (although I fully understand why it does for some) but I just don't see us getting a whole new suite of weapons like we did with the taken king.

TTK didn’t bring much loot compared to Forsaken, same can be said for Rise of Iron. the new loot added in those dlcs were minimal compared to SK and Forsaken. only D1 and 2 vanilla so far remain as the biggest loot injections.
-
If you're comparing forsaken including the season pass, yes. But not on its own. Ttk had 5 vendor refreshes, strike specific loot, new ps exclusive armour set, full raid gear and new set of weapons as well as the same for trials.
-
name a commonly used vendor weapon other than Hung Jury, no one used any of that trash that got added. nothing was good for PvE for the longest until RoI buffs and weapons.
-
No one mentioned usage, you said Forsaken had more loot than ttk, it didn't.
-
Not to mention all the game changing exotics, AND the Exotic Swords.
... but I just don't see us getting a whole new suite of weapons like we did with the taken king.
Given how little new content this year has been produced, I agree. They will obsolete all our gear, trying to force people to grind for it again and it will be the same stuff (slightly re-named) we had before. Unfortunately, delusional management doesn't realize how many people are fed up with their inept ways and this Fall, Bungle will find out the hard financial way when no one spends a dime on anything they try to peddle.

Has a Fall expansion ever failed to deliver content?

We do not need a confusing - broken - unfinished piece of "New Content" like ShadowKeep.
