Nice to read a post where someone isn't claiming that Bungie ruined their childhood......
Seriously though. Nice Idea, but the problem is that you have a community (especially here online) that is hostile to Eververse....and some are ideologically opposed to MTX of any kind.
Which means Bungie tried something similar to this a couple of years ago...and it leads to a BLURRING of the lines between what is in-game loot...and what are vanity items. So it tends to INCREASE player complaints rather than reducing them.
As people will tend to feel that the game "owes" them a in-game path to the item they want...that doesn't take them out of their comfort zone. So Bungie would get hit from both directions. People mad about the fact that its a microtransaction item period. Then hit from the other direction by those who are mad because the in-game path isn't something they want to do.....but they still feel entitled to the item.
At just the announcement that Bungie is going to blur this line with Transmog next year, has people already loading their guns to complain, "Bungie's going to screw us over on the effort to earn these items so they can charge us money."
Bungie's volunteered to step into that headache on that point. I'm not sure if its a good idea to do it on another one.
Though in isolation, you're idea's a fine one.

Edited by The Hermit IX: 5/29/2020 12:56:11 AMI’m fine with them making money on the shop as long as they’re putting out a quality product that’s functional. I’ve spent on ornaments in the past but stopped due to the low quality product this year. I’m going to wait and see moving forward. I’ll eat my disappointment of this year knowing I would of payed twice as much for Forsaken and it’s seasons. I won’t preorder anymore and will wait to see if it’s worth spending on. I’ll play PVP and old content if it’s a shit show.

Edited by Corrick II: 5/28/2020 5:22:01 PMRegarding the “in-game option frustration”, it would help if Bungie were a little more creative in their quest designs. Last year’s Solstice event was the absolute worst and everyone hated it because it showed just how much the quest designers don’t care about creating interesting or relevant quest steps. Not to mention inadvertently adding contradictory quest steps that make activities even more toxic. Otherwise, this is relatively on point.

I think that would be helpful in the eyes of most people of goodwill and who are willing to be fair. But some people are just of a mind that "Bungie is wrong no matter what."
