Seasonal content model "time locking" is a joke, I understand there maybe some technical difficulties with keeping certain content permanently in the game, but if this franchise wants to compete it needs a massive overhaul for its next title. MMOs have plenty of content packs and DLCs (both free and paid) that are not time locked and can be accessed WHENEVER you want, no matter if you're just starting out as a newbie or if you're a returning player, so long as you own the relevant pass or the DLC expansion, you can play it. What I'm trying to say is, that content does not expire and its yours...to keep, FOREVER! You don't miss any of the previous story content or rewards and you don't suffer from FOMO. A good example of why this is bad, I left D2 between Forsaken and just before the first season of content dropped (think it was the season of the drifter or whatever). When I finally decided to jump back into D2 a few months ago after almost 1 year away, it left me confused and frustrated! Where is all the story content from the previous seasons? Who is the drifter? What happened in the Black Armory? Who is Siviks? How did Saint 14 return? How do I access the Sundial? What are the corridors of time? Why is the Almighty crashing down upon us? I'll never know because I missed those seasons and all the related story quests, armor, weapons.... Etc because it was time locked. I had absolutely no idea what was going on! I had to look it up on Google or YouTube! Imagine how all this would look to a new player? Or, worse, a returning player? They're going to be bored and confused AF! I then logged out and jumped onto ESO, an MMORPG after about a year of not playing that too. I have the paid "eso+" membership which means all the content is "free" and available no matter where I am in the game, I quite easily caught up with the story from their previous year long storyline expansions and was satisfied to know I could take my time playing through it and had even more content and side quests to dig into further in. The only time locked content that I missed out on was all cosmetic things, which is fine. Locking story content behind a seasonal model or a "battle pass" and then removing it after the season is over is a terrible idea and will only make this game's life span even shorter! Both the quantity and quality of the content needs to be improved and not time locked.
