The way PS4 works is that it downloads the update, creates a copy of the game with the update applied, then removes the existing game. This is and always has been the way.

  • That’s strange cause I have the console since PS4 launch and have never faced with this issue before. Nevertheless, the second console doesn’t require full “replacement” to update.

    If you’ve ever gone into downloads and watched an update, it starts with ‘Preparing to Download’, then ‘Downloading %’ and then proceeds to ‘Copying %’. Chances are it’s never been brought to your attention because you’ve always had enough free space.

  • May be. As far as I remember, there was less than 50Gb every time I updated Death Stranding. Thank you for your response. I’ll observe the updating process in the future.
