I don't like any of the ones after Ruby and Sapphire. They're all the same and no innovation

Uhhh gens 4 and 5 came after those so that’s objectively wrong
-
-
They were the best games in terms of story, content, and both amount and quality of added pokemon
-
The gameplay hasn't changed one bit since red and blue

Bruh, speed used to determine how often you crit in gen 1 so high speed pokemon would always crit. This was changed in gen 2 and now it determines who goes first. Additional types were added in gen 2 and gen 6. Attacks are now differentiated between special and physical meaning there are also 2 different attack and defense stats now. Mega evolutions, Z-Moves, and Gigantamax are all single use power moves that add complexity. They were added in gen 6, 7, and 8, respectively. Pokemon have had their movements changed every generation for balance. Its changed.

I disagree. There is innovation there, it’s just really, really subtle, and it happens really, really slowly. But if a Ruby is the last game that you’ve played, I’m sure you’ll find that the latest games have introduced a lot of minor quality of life improvements since then.

I've played all of them. Nothing has changed since red and blue it's still the simplistic combat and animations that red had, with minor graphical improments. Nothing new has happened.
-
Then you and I have very different opinions on what innovation is. However, I will concede that the basic gameplay hasn’t changed much, and I doubt it ever will change or evolve in the future.
