You are absolutely correct. It does not make any sense. Also note the contradiction of "social distancing." There is nothing social about distancing yourself from others. Then there are also the promotional hashtags like, "alone together." There is no togetherness in being alone. It's a clever play on semantics.
I've been saying this SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic is being exaggerated to an extreme degree for months now. A lot of people are finally noticing this is true. Hospitals reported as overencombered with SARS-CoV-2 patients are found to be empty. Tents assembled for testing and diagnosis are also found empty and barren of equipment. Recycled hospital video of wards treating SARS-COV-2 patients broadcast in different countries. There's a lot of inconsistencies.
There is definitely more to what is going on than a viral infection. It's very serious. I'm sure we are not in any danger. We will just have to see what happens over the next couple weeks.

The term “social distancing” isn’t self contradictory; it means distancing yourself from social activity, not distancing yourself as a social activity.
The term “social distancing” isn’t self contradictory; it means distancing yourself from social activity, not distancing yourself as a social activity.
Yep. And being stuck inside where viral particles would be in greater concentration is more beneficial than being outdoors. Yeah...none of it is inverted. Okay, I'll be a good little non-thinking compliant citizen and not question the propaganda we're being fed. I'll ignore my education on viruses and ignore all research articles on SARS-CoV-2 because the media and their cherry picked administrative experts know best.
-
The major reason is not that you don’t get sick, but that you don’t become a host of spreading it.
-
So ignore my education and the research articles I've read on SARS-CoV-2. Please cite a source explaining why the pathology and epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 is so radically different than other coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV (SARS), warranting it to be an extreme exception in terms of viral structure and genetic sequence.
-
My take away from this new virus is that we need to also be more careful about not spreading the flu or colds. If you’re sick, stay tha frick home. If you need to leave the house, wear a mask so that you don’t spread the sickness via sneezes or coughing. I’m not arguing about if a country should or shouldn’t basically shut down when the flu comes, but it’s obvious that staying away from the public or crowds will stop the spread of a contagious virus. If you’re sick and you don’t go anywhere, you can’t spread it to the masses, that’s just obvious. Again, I’m not saying that the world should shut down, I’m simply saying that self isolation if you’re sick will stop a virus spreading that spreads by breath, sneezes or coughing.
-
Really, the only reason to stay home is to allow yourself to rest for a quicker recovery. You'll be infectious before you feel ill enough to even consider self isolation. This phenomenon is not exclusive to SARS-CoV-2. It also applies to the common cold, influenza, and influenza-like illnesses. Again, this is fact is well known in the field. It is very frustrating that it is being treated as novel for this pandemic.
-
I wasn’t making any comment on whether or not it’s effective; I was addressing this statement right here:
Also note the contradiction of "social distancing." There is nothing social about distancing yourself from others.
The phrase makes perfect sense; there’s no contradiction there.
-
It is a contradiction. It's a made up buzz phrase promoting inverted ideology akin to the propaganda in Orwell's 1984.
I don't sell male genital enhancement pills as part of a money laundering scheme...
u don’t sell them, u buy them
-
u don’t sell them, u buy them
That's why it has to be a money laundering scheme. No one buys those pills.
-
I never accused you of such, but now I'm starting to suspect otherwise...
-
You did. You insinuated that I'm the same as that aluminum foil wearing fat ass, Alex Jones. All that roller skating dumpster pumper does is promote fear pron, encouraging his audience to stroke their fear until they reach hysteria.
-
I was referring to the conspiracy theories and fear mongering. Because that is exactly what you've been doing here for years. But obviously you're not exactly the same as him. For example, Mr Jones actually has people that listen to him.
-
I was referring to the conspiracy theories and fear mongering.
What fear mongering?
Because that is exactly what you've been doing here for years.
It's only been the last year, maybe year and a half, that I've started taking conspiracy theories seriously. Really, things like the Moon, flat Earth, and 9/11 don't bug me out. The stuff with Hollywood sorta bugs me out since I've been aware of those rumors for over a decade and they hint at that crap in movies and TV shows. This SARS-CoV-2 pandemic really bugs me out because I'm familiar with the subject of infectious diseases. I can let all the others go. I can leave them be. This pandemic, I cannot. I know they are lying about it! I read the research articles on the virus. I was already familiar with coronaviruses in general. There was something off with this epidemic clear back in January. This conspiracy is not like the others I've explored. It is within a familiar subject. I studied this stuff for my undergrad. I've yet to find any information saying why this is radically different than any other respiratory virus warranting this extreme reaction. That really bugs me. Usually there's some hint in the literature. There is nothing. This is your typical influenza-like illness that blows through with influenza every year. The question is why it's being exaggerated. Frankly, nobody knows.

It doesn’t matter whether or not it’s correct, the phrase, the title, the words themselves make sense. Social distancing, meaning to distance yourself from social activities. There isn’t any contradiction in that sentence. I can say the sky is red, and whether or not it’s correct, the sentence still makes sense.
-
I can apply meaning to erase blatant contradiction too. Dry wetness, meaning a surface that was once wet is now dry. It makes sense. There is no contradiction. It's all word play. Inversion makes great propaganda.
-
Dry wetness doesn’t work. You’re implying the wetness itself is dry, which doesn’t make any sense. A more accurate term would be “dried wetness”. The phrase “social distancing” doesn’t need any propaganda to make sense. Distance, when used as a verb, can be put with anything. Video game distancing is to distance yourself from video games. Chocolate distancing is to distance yourself from chocolate. It doesn’t matter if you agree or disagree with it; it’s proper grammar, and works perfectly fine.
-
Social distancing is the same. The implication is that distancing is social.
-
Social distancing is the same. The implication is that distancing is social.
And we have to talk about this. The term absolutely 100% makes sense. You clearly have a problem admitting when you’re wrong.
-
You’re reading it the wrong way around. See my original comment; You’re distancing yourself from social activity, not distancing yourself as a social activity.
-
You’re reading it the wrong way around. See my original comment; You’re distancing yourself from social activity, not distancing yourself as a social activity.
You're reading it wrong...Let's look at "social running" as an example. It makes no sense to say that you are running yourself from social activity. You are running as a social activity, social running. The same applies to any other verb in the place of distancing.
