  • That seems entirely on you. Transportation should be a given. In my experience, the vast majority of events take place outside of the city. Which is usually why so many have either vehicles or abilities to get to places. Not...quite...sure where my Flying Broom fits into that, but still! Everyone knows getting to and from things is important! What kind of motivation did you give to this character if they have none to actually participate in the basic "bad things happen, save the day" style of events that are so common here?

  • I could figure out transportation if it weren’t for the other issue. Six could probably mysteriously get her bike back, or something. But I think the DM should usually provide something for the people who don’t. As simple as a train ride set to that destination—we shouldn’t assume everyone has the means to get anywhere. As for motivation, the big issue here is we never got any indication something was wrong. I could work with a distress signal, or some fleeing refugees, or the monsters from the prologue retreating to the town. Even as a not-very-heroic characer, I could come up with some reason she could respond if she had something to go on. I can’t come up with a reason she would respond to a threat she knows absolutely nothing about, though. She doesn’t have clairvoyance, or anything.

  • So, you're basically asking the DM to hold your hand then.

  • Not at all. Once we get there, the DM can leave me to my own devices. But it’s the DM’s responsibility, imo, to provide both the reasons to go to their event, and the means to get there. As a more extreme example, imagine if something happened on the other side of the universe. Am I just supposed to assume everyone should suddenly know about this thing that has absolutely nothing to do with them, and has a spaceship capable of such long distance travel? That just seems ridiculous to me. A town away is a little more reasonble in the transportation department, but what if I was playing as a kid? I can’t drive over there if I can’t drive. And while Six does have a motorcycle, due to a misunderstanding in the prologue (which presumably takes place immediately before this), I mysteriously wound up on Blaze’s ship, meaning there’s no way she should have it. But relaying the information that something is happening to your players is something that I can’t see any reason not to do. Why am I expected to just so happen to show up in the right place at the right time, with no reason to be there? I can’t see any justifiable reason for any of my characters to be in this town, when there wasn’t even so much as a distress beacon.

  • Lots of people are going to the place, wouldn’t that seem a bit off?

  • It’s not like I would know where anyone’s going. It’s a big city; people are heading places all the time.
