• I've gotten (and finished) most of the non-pvp/raid catalysts. Can't say if it's just coincidence or not, but it seems that the more catalysts I had finished, the more likely that more dropped later on. Imo, the strike ones could probably be a more common drop in the Ordeal at higher tiers as would Crucible ones from playing Comp, Iron Banana, or Trials. I've only ever done Leviathan once so I have no opinion on the raid catalyst drop raid. Drop chances/locations aren't my main criticism with them though. Don't mean to hijack your thread just to vent though so I'll just leave my catalyst rant in spoilers for anyone that cares.
My biggest issues with catalysts are the process of masterworking them and the perks they provide. Most of the masterwork requirements are stupid easy to do. Most are just "Kill 'X' amount of enemies" and you can grind 90% of those in the The Whisper. That's not excluding that many of those same catalysts don't even require using said Exotic intrinsic capabilities, just plain kills or assists. Out of all of the catalysts I've done thus far, only Erianna's Vow, Fighting Lion, and Graviton Lance took an actual effort to complete. Everything else I could grind out within an hour or less in The Whisper before shoving it back in my vault or straight up dismantling it. The additional perks provided has been a mixed bag. Some are actually pretty good as they minimize or compensate for previous weapon weaknesses such as Erianna's Vow getting both a mag increase and passive reload. Others capitalize on the intrinsic perks granted by the weapon, such as extending String of Curses for Bad Juju, Peerless Edge for Izanagi's Burden, Focused Fire for Cerberus+1, etc. Some also just gain static boosts which aren't too bad, though I haven't looked too much into which are good and which are pointless. However, you also get pointless or underwhelming ones such as Outlaw for Mida, double remnants for Lumina, Hidden Hand for Graviton (mostly pointless on PC), extra grenade for the Colony, etc. My biggest recommendations for future catalysts would be to masterwork them by fully utilizing the intrinsic perks granted by the weapon rather than just being plain kills, perhaps require more investment as well, and the perks granted better assist the weapon in practice and not just in theory.
