I'll admit I'm kind of curious to see if Bungie will actually follow through on having the Almighty crash into the City. Though honestly they'll probably just pull a deus ex machina to save the City if we don't reach whatever arbitrary goal that's been set.
Personally I stopped caring about upgrading the bunkers when I realized how tedious the grind to do so was going to be. If I make progress I make progress. If I don't? Oh well. I'd rather just focus on leisurely working my way through the season pass rewards, and refining my characters' builds.

I’d rather have Sundial back than go level up the bunkers.

Sundial is a game mode I wish could have been a permanent addition to the game. Sure it was a bit repetitive, but at the same time it still managed to be fun on top of the rewards genuinely being worthwhile. Heck, if I could I would still be grinding Sundial for better rolls on some of the guns that were available.
