You have no clue what you're ranting about here, and I am sure that no true fan of the franchise shares your view on this matter. That whole 'casual' experience you so badly want was the one things I hated with the D2 launch: - The game felt slow and boring - You had the same rolls on all weapons = no replayability D1 released after a lot of internal drama Some lead Bungie devs left the company due to the predatory monetization plan laid out by Activision. It was not in the spirit of what Bungie stood for. Anonymous posts on developer forums have been posted telling their story, as they cannot go public (contractual agreements). Who can forget the "loot cave" from D1? Yeah.. it was the lack of content combined with an early release, and not a full release but DLC based on top of that - all Activision's calls. Their money - their decision pretty much. Now the game has started to regain some sort of promise once again. Who wants to be rewarded for being mediocre at something? Getting pinnacle rewards is supposed to be hard, and in my opinion, that's the sort of content the game needs more of in PvE and PvP. Everyone are not supposed to go flawless in Trials. Everyone isn't good enough to clear raids without being carried. Everyone can't do the 'Pit of Heresey' or 'Shattered Throne' solo without dying. That's just how things are. Everyone are not supposed to be able to do everything. Most content in the game are for everyone, but a small percentage of it needs to be driven towards those who are seeking challenges. It brings meaning to some of us, and believe it or not, we love to help friends that require help with stuff like that. The past 2 seasons after the split has been all about trial and error from Bungie. They are trying to improve, and I see promising changes, but they still have a way to go. Bungie had to change their entire business model, which is a huge challenge in it's own right. They were behind on development, which they admitted, due to the challenges involving the 'free to play' project. A huge gamble and decision was made. This required a lot of resources. This has fatigued a lot of players, but that's just natural. I play more casually now than I did before, and as a result of that I enjoy it more whenever I play. If you love Activision so much, why don't you go play Call of Duty instead? Activision are known for predatory monetization schemes, I mean.. they literally charged people for a bloody red dot sight in COD at one point. They are huge fans of loot chests and make it look like slots to keep people addicted to open them. They obviously know what they're doing. They do not give a flying -blam!- about anything but printing money, and they are particularly known for treating their staff as garbage. This is why so many people hate on them.. One thing is for sure though, Bungie cannot keep everyone happy, so if losing 300,000 casual players means getting better content, I am all for it! It's all about balance though, so as long as people understand that the entire game is not for them, but parts are for those seeking challanges, it's all good. These are the changes they need to implement urgently for PvP players now that Trials have returned: - Fix the connection for PvP - this one is urgent! - Add a disconnect protection system that does not mess up the experience of those disconnecting (and their teams) - Give players an incentive to keep going flawless. As of right now, players are just farming tokens. That's not the point of trials - you are supposed to farm wins. - On PC there are cheaters/hackers everywhere. Put trials behind a paywall or something to lock them out. - Create some sort of system that does not ban accounts, but MacID instead (or something similar)

Trials should be behind a paywall. There is no good reason for New Light players to have access to a pinnacle activity. You want to do trials (and comp?) Pay for the freaking expansion. Plain and simple. The ratio of cheaters in trials (and comp) would drop drastically. F2P as a concept is meant for a player to be introduced to the content in the hopes they purchase the full game to access all content. I am not a game developer so I don't understand their thought process...but as a businessman the decision process to make ToO available to F2P makes no sense. Especially on PC where cheating is a very real problem.

 • Stopped reading when you talked about the predatory monetization plan from Activision. Every choice on that matter was internal with Bungie, and your anonymous posts are likely not actually Bungie employees. Activision sucks, but there are so many self inflicted wounds caused by Bungie themselves that people credit to Activision.

 • So, charging people for red dots sights are not predatory? In-game credits that allows you to purchase rare chests, where the top package costs $129.99 - and making them look like slots at the same time with amazing animations to ensure kids get hooked. YouTubers and shills promoting it on social media. Guitar Hero got demolished after they started in-game credits you, basically forcing you to go online and pay for each song you played (GH Live). They are a pos company, and you can believe whatever you want - I am not buying it. The decision of going casual has their DNA smeared all over it

 • Me: Says Activision sucks, but it was Bungie you need to blame for the monetization in Destiny. You: Won't shut the -blam!- up about a goddamned red dot sight sold in a game NOT CALLED DESTINY. Christ, learn to -blam!-ing read, or failing that stop cutting and pasting the same -blam!-ing rant about Activision.
