Hi there. You have to disable your Cross Save in order to unlink that account and link your other one. Once you do disable it, you will have to wait 90 days to enable Cross Save again. There are no exceptions to that. If you've purchased Silver at any time after enabling Cross Save, you can try filling out the contact form on this page to request your Cross Save be disabled so you can then unlink the account. Be aware that it is up to Bungie staff discretion whether they will respond to requests, and requests are only reviewed during weekday business hours.

  • So to clarify - I need to unlink my account and can use the form that you linked to unlink old steam from b.net --- then I need to wait 3 months in order to relink it with my current steam account??? Are you serious? Why can't I re-link it with my current steam account and play my characters afterwards? That is a huge amount of time to have to wait -- and if you look at my post history this has been an issue since October .... Please tell me you can help me in a time span significantly shorter than 3 months .......

  • That’s the policy of cross save. It’s been implemented to curtail the bad actors who would want to use it for “recoveries” and other things. So if you want to be mad at someone for that, be mad at those people. There is no way around the 90 day cool down. So you’re going to have to work with it one way or another.

  • Oh no doubt people exploit the feature - and I respect that there are preventive measures in place against those practices - but there should also be an avenue, for lawful owners of the game and accounts to be linked, to take that does not require customers from waiting 3 months to play the game with the account that has the progression I've spent a good bit of time playing. As it stands, the account that I have will be in limbo for 90 days which bars me from playing with my son until I am able to recover that account again - because I am not buying the expansions twice just for a 90 day period on an account that I will overwrite after the correct account is linked with crosssave... that just seems silly for actual lawful owners of their accounts trying to resolve a clerical error.

  • If there’s a way to do it, people will exploit it. That’s why there is a contact form that will probably be a one-time use form. Once you use it, the 90 day cool down may very well go into effect. Cross save was meant to be a set and forget feature. You shouldn’t have to make changes. It’s understood that there are reasons for changing it, which is why those options to disable it or change it are there. But bear in mind, it’s primary objective was to be set and forget.

  • Mmm true and that's a great point. I mean technically I can just log into the old steam account and flip back and forth when I want to play something else. I just wish there were safety nets for knuckleheads like me haha, or at least shorter, or case-by-case basis for the time span that I must wait to relink it. But I get people would exploit that for whatever reason and that's jacked... Especially because once it's unlinked - I have no other way to play my account right? I mean if not steam then .. what? (for PC, obviously other platforms exist) If I roll new characters on the proper steam account, they'll be overwritten in 90 days and my progress null - let alone I don't want to buy the expansion twice.

Data cannot be transferred from one Steam ID to another. Your save data for the Steam ID is entirely connected to that Steam ID, as are your licenses, etc. Changing the linked Steam ID on your Bungie.net profile will not move your characters around or let you transfer your licenses. The reason I mention the above is because you currently have your current Steam ID as your main cross-save data; those characters will not be playable on any other Steam ID, and based on what you've said, it sounds like you may think it works differently than it does. Beyond that, unlinking your Steam ID from your Bungie.net account does not remove your Steam save data for that Steam ID. You can still play using those characters on that Steam ID without Cross-Save, but you'll just not be able to access them on the PS4 like you currently can (your PS4 save data will become available again for you to play on the PS4; your Steam data will only be available on Steam). Cross-Save just lets you access one single platform account's save data on every platform you play, it's not an actual save data transfer or account merge in any way.
