The practice of keeping a dozen or more different species of wild animals in close proximity, and in doing so increasing the risk of zoonosis, is not a uniquely Chinese issue, but it is most certainly a major health concern that China has ignored for too long.
While I am opposed to calling this a Chinese virus or discriminating against Chinese or other Southeast Asian peoples, I also think it is perilous to ignore blatant disregard for public health by an economic superpower. I hope these facts don’t get passed over because we are concerned about political correctness. All nations and peoples must be held accountable for their failures in this situation (including those nations, like the U.S., who were completely unprepared and slow to take it seriously).
I hope we can also dispense with these ridiculous rumors that the virus was created by the U.S. military. That China’s ambassador to the U.S. made these allegations in the media is also highly unprofessional and counterproductive.

Criticism of the CCP isn't racism. The Chinese government pulling that card is a distraction that only works on the weak minded.
-
No need to get too politcal here. The only thing we want, is to clear any misunderstanding caused by the mistranslation in Traditional Chinese. Because there is a good amount of Chinese players who don't understanding English will see this TWAB in Traditional Chinese as Bungie's intention, damaging their reputation.

Nothing political about what I said. Just saying the science should be respected. China could have prevented this outcome. You are right that it should no longer be referred to by its place of origin, but we must not forget what led to this in Wuhan. We can be respectful and truthful at the same time.
-
Well, calling it a different name doesn't mean that we will forget where it all started. We will always remember this tragedy. Respect to those who are still on the frontline.
-
Agreed. Perhaps where you are facts still matter. Where I live, emotional sensationalism and post-truth politicization rule the day.
-
I totally agree with you and I am a Wuhan resident. I'm actually not offended by the Wuhan Pneumonia. Just want remind Bungie there exists misinformation of translation and may cause possible problems to them.
-
I think you are right to publicize this. Good luck and good health.
-
Nah I don't believe the rumors either. I respect science. The point is, COVID-19 has an official Chinese name, not 武汉肺炎,but 新型冠状病毒 Like I would never call H1N1 "the American flu" whether you care or not. Translation is on behalf of Bungie's attitude and avoiding misunderstanding and chaos is the basic line for a translator.
