Turns out the Bungie CoC is actually pretty good, it's the Ninjas who ruin it for everybody by making up their own rules

So the Bungie code of conduct is actually pretty short and doesn't mention a lot of rules. The only things listed as forbidden are: 1. Personal attacks, harassment, or violations of privacy. 2. Disrespect for any reason: race, creed, gender, orientation, or disability. 3. Depiction or description of gory violence or explicit sexuality. 4. Breaking the law, plotting, or describing illegal activities. 5. Spoiling games with hacks, cheats, or unreleased story details. 6. Distributing unauthorized, copyrighted, or trademarked material. 7. Soliciting, plagiarism, phishing, or impersonating other users. These rules are simple, easy to follow, and a good standard to judge by. The only issue is that the Ninjas DO NOT use these rules when moderating the forums. For some rules, they just willingly misinterpret them, and for some they just make up entirely new rules. For example, a personal attack is explained on the CoC explanation page as "any negative statement or insult about the character, traits, nature, qualities, or abilities of another user". Taking this statement literally, ANY negative comment of ANY kind towards ANY person is grounds for a ban. Even something as simple as "you don't know what you're talking about", "you aren't doing a good job", or "your idea is stupid" is enough to get you banned based on the Ninja's interpretation of the CoC. This extended Ninja explanation is also where the "no name and shame" rule comes from. It's considered "harassment" to call out blatant cheaters even if you don't interact with the cheater in question in any way, which is a prerequisite to actually harass a person. The Ninjas go on to say that it's irrelevant what the person you're calling out is doing, it's YOU who's the problem for calling attention to any person, not the person you're calling out. It's also worth noting that the famous "Threads about other locked threads will also be locked" rule not only doesn't appear anywhere in the CoC, it isn't once mentioned in the extended Ninja explanation either, because threads about other locked threads DON'T BREAK ANY RULES. Ninjas just made that rule up out of thin air so they have an excuse to lock threads that call them out for not following their own rules (kind of like this one). One final thing. This thread will probably end up getting me banned by the ninjas again or at least just locked (probably by Spawn), so I'm interested to see what rule they cite for a ban. But I bet won't be made public, and I suspect the "rule" they say I broke will just be "violating the CoC" because they can't find a real rule to get rid of me with but need an excuse to ban me. You all have a voice, don't let the ninjas silence you. They can't ban everybody.
