New Dredgen’s Eyes Lying on the ground, wounded he looked upon the image of a man. A man with a good and a cape attached to his figure. A Guardian. A hunter. And even when the planet was plunged into night, his gun still shined like a beacon of hope. The gun’s barrel was now on his forehead, almost gently placed there. The Dredgen closed his eyes behind his helm, awaiting the death that he knew he deserved. There was a 12 second silence. The Dredgen spoke impatient, “Just pull the trigger for the Traveller’s sake.” The man spoke, “I’m not doing a damn thing for the Traveller.” He cocked the gun. “I’m doing this so some innocents can rest.” “My ghost seemed pretty innocent.”, the Dredgen retorted. The man took a moment to look at the ghost’s fragmented shell, smoke arose from it’s lifeless husk. The man looked back down, “He knew his guardian.”, he replied. “I’m not telling you nothin’ about Yor,” the Dredgen said, “You can go to hell if you think you’re gettin’ a word outa me.” “Like I’m gonna ask you for anything,” said the man. “I quite like the thrill of the hunt.” The Dredgen cringed, he chuckled. He mumbled under his breath “Lunatic.”. The man then asked in a curious tone: “Have you ever had amnesia?” The Dredgen tilted his head, confused. “No.” “Alright,” the man replied. “Cause it’s gonna feel like one after you wake up.” The man pulled the trigger, as a gunshot echoed through the night. “Guardian? Eyes up, wake up Guardian!” The man who was Dredgen no longer stood. “What-,” he stuttered “where am I? What the hell are you?” “I’m your ghost. Not your soul, by the way. I would love to explain, but there are Scorn everywhere.” The ghost’s blue eye looked down upon a pulse rifle. “Can you fight?” “I’m not sure.” He replied. “Okay.” the ghost said rolling it’s glowing blue eye, “Your a Hunter, so you can hide.” The man stood up with the weapon. The ghost then asked his name. “I’ve never known a title.”, he replied.

 • Chapter II The cracked, rocky ground was littered with ether and Scorn corpses. Though one Raider remained standing, the Hunter quickly, so swiftly, stuck his knife in the diseased thing’s throat. The final Scorn fell, and only the man stood. His ghost appeared floating in his palm, it’s eye shined with light. “I think that’s all of them.” The ghost said. The Hunter slowly turned and looked around him. He confirmed, “Yeah, that’s all.” “Let’s find you some armor,” the ghost said, “This place worries me.” It quickly turned towards a cloak and armor, that of a former Dredgen’s disguise. The ghost hovered over their loot. It exclaimed curiously, “Not even in an engram? Lucky us.” He returned to his Guardian, “We won’t be needing a Cryptarch.” “Good,” the Hunter said in monotone, “This armor is too basic.” He quickly equipped the armor and picked up the scavenged sniper. He looked through the scope, admiring the weapon, before stowing it on his back with his pulse rifle. “Well, now that we have some privacy, I’m Ash.” When the ghost spoke his name, he seemed to brighten in spirit. “Did you ever tell me your name?” “I dunno.” the Hunter replied, “The only name I remember is....Quill.” “Well, Quill, it’s nice to meet you!” His ghost spoke in such a cheerful voice. “Where are we?” Quill asked, as Ash replied, “The Tangled Shore. A place where bandits and pirates hide out and scheme.” Quill admired his ghost, “Cute.” He said. Ash quickly twitched, as if noticing something. He then proceeded to hover around his head, scanning and searching. “What’s up?”, Quill said, confused. “I’m detecting some left over data inside your new helmet.”, Ash replied “It appears to be coordinates for a ‘special’ loot cache.” Quill cringed, “Are we, by chance, close to this, ‘special cache’?” “Relatively close!”, Ash replied, suddenly prepared, “Ready for a treasure hunt?” Quill chuckled, “You ain’t scarred of nothin’ are you?”, he put his sniper in his hands, “Let’s go hunting.” Hunting, he thought. Quill suddenly felt as if he was quoting someone. He shrugged off the feeling, and walked into the wasteland.

 • Chapter III Dregs and Shanks gathered, scavenging the terrain and muttering Eliskni. One looked up, only to have it’s head blown off. In that moment, the other Fallen retreated from the scene, crawling and moving in sprint. A ways away, the man responsible. “I don’t get it,” Ash said, “Why didn’t you just go in guns blazing?” Quill lowered the sniper and turned to his ghost, “Because it’s always better to have no witnesses.” A Dredgen’s teaching. He got to his feet, “We don’t know what’s gonna be in that chest we find.” Ash shifted to a cringe. “Where is this from?”, He asked. “Just a feeling.”, Quill replied. They stepped inside the elevator, Quill’s sniper still in his grasp. He levitated to the surface to find himself in a cave-hallway. Quill made his way to the exit. They had now stepped into the Four-Horn Gulch. “The chest is just straight ahead from here,” Quill said, “but it’s in another location.” “We’re probably headed to the High Plains.”, Ash said. He turned to set his eye on a Fallen Pike. “Tired of walking?”, He asked. “Very.”, Quill answered. He approached the Pike, removed the Dreg corpse laying on the vehicle, and rode it towards the location of their loot. The Pike drove very fast. Quill could feel the wind softly punching his face and shaking his cloak. Ash was in the safest position, on his Guardian’s back. He let it cries of excitement, and for a moment let out battle cries towards the Scorn they passed. After they made it to the giant hole in the rock and parked the Pike, Quill made his way to the High Plains. He looked upon a gray desert, virtually flat and rid of life, besides the few Fallen who had camped out here. Quill wanted to make a statement about the place, but quickly ignored the urge to. “We’re close,”, he said. “Let’s follow the trail.” They walked along the trail the map showed. They halted at a ledge, connected to the rocks in front of them by cable. “It’s right here,” Ash said, “Or at least it should be.” “Maybe it’s on that rock,”, Quill said, “This seems hidden. If I gave someone a map, I would put it somewhere where only that person could find it.” Another Dredgen lesson. He felt a strange deja vu, but kept it to himself. Quill jumped once toward the rock, and jumped again in midair, landing on the rock. He slowly stepped toward where it’s shape ended, until a ledge appeared in sight. He could see the top of what looked like a crate. “Bingo!”, Ash exclaimed. As Quill slowly opened the chest, Ash continued talking. “Bravo! Well done! Ooh! Let’s see what’s inside this myster-!”. Ash’s blue eye halted. It lay still in fright. “Is that...?” Quill was silent. He was unaware of what his ghost was afraid of. “It’s just a busted hand cannon,”, he motioned it toward Ash. “Nothin’ to worry about.” He motioned quickly away from his Guardian. His shell shook in fear. In absence of light. “It can’t be...”, Ash whimpered. In Quill’s hand, was a weapon of darkness. A symbol of fear. In his hand..... Was a Thorn.

 • Sorry what I meant was that us judges need to know if you’ve written before so we can group you accordingly. So have you written any stories before (including outside of Destiny fanfiction) and, if so, have you been writing for more than a few months?

 • Ok, now that is good, yet I’m not a judge. Nice use of amnesia to bypass a rule, or is this a new character?
