PvP tips post #2. Specific tips

Video link: https://youtu.be/t4NpIZ-A1c8 Note: this video is to showcase the importance of movement as a sniper main, these clips are from today and yesterday playing 5500 rank survival. Yes I know my editing is garbage, yes I know my jokes are garbage. Just wanted an example video that I could tie in to the tips I was giving. So, some of my prior posts have gained a bit of traction and I enjoy giving tips/tricks to newer players. Today’s topics are common sniper mistakes, and how to handle outnumbered situations. This is assuming you have seen my prior post on general tips and tricks. If not, I will link it below so you can read it first. Sniper Tips: -Don’t be stationary: I can’t stress this enough but hardscoping lanes is just about the least effective way to play as a sniper. You need to move around and never be in the same place twice. - learn to place your reticle at head level when challenging an angle. This will limit aim correction to the horizontal axis, which can be accomplished with a strafe and/or horizontal flick. PvE is a good place to practice this, or at the beginning of gambit matches. Just slide around and Practice getting your reticle as close to an enemies head as possible when you scope in, and focus extra hard on getting the height aspect of your reticle placement correct. -avoid challenging other snipers 1v1 this is a good way to trade. You want to focus on shooting people with the least chance of flinching or killing you, not engaging those who can OHK you as well. -check high traffic areas WHEN YOU EXPECT TRAFFIC. Don’t sit and hardscope, don’t wait for the enemy to appear. Move from high traffic angle to high traffic angle until you find somebody. -CHECK YOUR RADAR: somebody who is proficient in using their radar can use it to aim (in a way) Eventually you will learn what different radar images mean, and you can line up your reticle on the most likely target area as fast as possible. -make aim corrections one direction at a time, diagonal corrections are less accurate than a vertical correction followed by a horizontal correction. At high speed, good corrections will look more like a loop than a diagonal line. -The easiest time to land a snipe is when a player is caught sprinting/sliding/reloading/throwing a grenade or any other activity that stops them from flinching you. You want to focus on catching players in these activities, -play from unexpected angles, Anything that is close to cover but can get the drop on your opponent is good. For example, in the video I linked, you will see me running from players on widows court, and “setting a trap” at top stairs. In my head I predicted the player would chase around the corner and look for me heading down the stairs, So I positioned myself slightly away from the stairs hoping for an extra fraction of a second to land the snipe. I was still close enough to dodge down the stairs if necessary. -you can shoot through flinch some times, the trick here is only taking the shot IF the following conditions are met 1: your reticle is very close to the opponents head, not on it. 2: you are shooting imediately after their first shot connects with you. This is shown in the clutch round in the video above. Right after “reposition and try again” my aim was a tad off, and he shot me. The way flinch works in destiny is it will flinch you on to target if you are off but close, and it will flinch you off of target if you are on target. So, if you are on target, wait for flinch shot #2, if you are off target shoot after flinch shoot #1. Basically you want to wait for a moment when you see your reticle off of the enemies head and then shoot as soon as their next shot hits you. Managing outnumbered situations: The key here is to isolate enemies into 1v1 engagements where you can come out on top without losing much health. The tips above apply, and you should always be ready to run and reposition. HOWEVER. You need to be in control, or playing to regain control of the momentum of the engagement. Constantly running and being on your back foot will put you in a corner, and the more times you turn and run the less likely you will succeed. Separate. Bait. Kill. Agress or reposition. That is the order of operations. If you find yourself surrounded, don’t be passive. Pick an enemy that you can engage the most safely and push them to break the circle. • nuh uh you're doing it wrong not just holing yourself up in one lane and sitting there the entire game and getting mad because you didn't hear the tawksik shotgun ape kill you while you were hardscoping, but in all seriousness good tips more players need to understand the importance of mobility and repositioning when running a snipe i hope that more players take the time to read these suggestions and tips from other players and try not to get to stuck in mindsets that are holding themselves from being the best player that they can be
