Season of Dawn - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Going from "Season of Undying" into "Season of Dawn" sure is a mixed bag, isn't it? Let's get the bad out of the way, hmm? The Bad: - The Sundial is just a variation of The Menagerie. - Season of Dawn (SoD) mods only applicable to SoD Armor Set. - SoD mods are just all over the place: *** Seriously. What's with this insane combination of these mods? Do this to get charged with light and while charged with light you do this but it costs you this and that and do that but not this and this does that but not this and... Holy sh*t, guys. Really? Spent more time writing descriptions for these weird a** mods than you did writing the story for this season. - Last season's armor set is now pointless. Thanks for the ornaments, though, I guess. - Still no new sources for Pinnacle Gear or end-game materials. There's other stuff but I don't have all day. Just focusing on the things that are the most annoying going from last season into this one. How about some good, though, hmm? The Good: - The Sundial is very quick to grind through for rewards. *** I don't know about you guys but I really don't like how long a lot of things take in this game. While The Menagerie is pretty fun, it does feel like it takes forever to get through. Same with a handful of strikes in this game. Where it really shows is in the Crucible. I hate spending twenty minutes, on average, in the same game against the same people. That's why Mayhem is preferred because it's seven minutes, tops, and it's fast paced and it's just over before you know it. Compare that to Control. - The Sundial, I believe, also gets you a piece of armor after every completion. Even if it drops as legendary and not powerful, you can get new and better stats pretty quickly. - They updated the Gunsmith's bounties for both extra bounties as well as making the second weekly a combination between PvE & PvP. *** I do think they could combine the first one, too, to be either going to a destination to get precision kills or doing it in Crucible. Just update it to say, "Precision kills in Lost Sectors and Precision Kills in Crucible grant the most progress." Again, it's all about choice for players and how they want to play. - Sparrows on Mercury. At least, now, if I ever do need to go to Mercury I can actually just get around it quicker. It may be a small destination but it sucked running around on it because of how ungodly slow the running is. - Making powerful gear reach 960 & requiring less XP into the artifact to get both mods and the power boost. *** This is probably the best QoL improvement they've made. They don't even have to raise the powerful gear again, next season, if this works how I think it will. Firstly, getting your base to 960 without pinnacle gear will help with a lot of end-game activities that, I'm sure, a lot of players just opted out of because they didn't want to tediously grind for pinnacle gear from it's very limited sources. On top of that, having to dump tens of millions of XP into the artifact just to bring it's power boost to an actually usable level only to have it all go away next season. Now, while it's still a good amount of XP, it's hundreds of thousands instead of tens of millions. At least, it's looking like it right now and it'll hopefully be that way. So Bungie did take a few steps in the right direction on a few things that are mostly QoL improvements. Very little in the way of things to actually work toward with any kind of meaningfulness behind doing it. I don't mind The Sundial as it's quick and has guaranteed drops for new gear and weapons. Speaking of, are the other links available yet? I feel like I've seen players with new weapons that I don't have access to. Just wondering if I'm missing something. Any info as to anything specific I haven't done yet to get new links or start saving XIV, if they're available, would be appreciated. Thanks! Oh.. Right... The Ugly: - Eververse *** Duh..
