A ranked playlist is about climbing the ladder. Sbmm takes away the ladder. If you are only ever playing against people of your own skill, then you will not be able to see improvement. You are unable to truly rank yourself. In a ranked playlist, you are matched based on your rank and gain rank by beating players. Now, that may seem similar to sbmm, but it is different. In a ranked system, skill does not determine rank. It is entirely possible for a skilled player to be very low ranking simply because they do not play often. The game matches players purely based on rank without regard to stats or win loss ratio.

Match making based on your rank in the ladder sounds great to me.

Indeed, I would love that. That is much more similar to the way that comp used to operate. It is also why achieving legend in comp this season was a breeze. I think there should be a ranked playlist, aka comp, and the other playlists should be unranked, aka cbmm. That's just my 2 cents.
